lyrics essay First published in The Believer, July, 2003. The Genre Artist. If a story takes place, as we are told stories do, then who or what does it take that place from, and why is an acquisition verb—take—necessary to describe the activity of stories? Maybe it’s an unfair, literalizing question. Not all figures of speech need to be prodded for accuracy (although shouldn’t a phrase relating to world war 2, stories, which are made of language, have some passing precision?). Dissertation Uk Structure. Stories would keep taking place whether or not we worried about what it meant for them to do so, or worried about what stories actually did instead. But if we poked at this strange phrase, which suggests a theft of History, setting in order for dictionary narrative to occur, we might also deduce that if a place is taken for something to happen in it, then this taking must happen at History world, a specific time (that’s what the word “happen” asks us to believe, anyway). Paper. The verb “take” presumes duration, implies a moment (unless we take a break from time or take the opportunity to no longer experience time , options that are difficult, at History channel world war 2, best, to Pictures denominations, secure, unless we die). It is this specific time that is meant to concern us when we encounter what is likely the most well known (i.e., terrifying) story opener of all: once upon a time. Imbedded in this innocent phrase, which I would like to prod for the rest of this paragraph until it leaks an interesting jelly, is a severally redundant claim of channel world, occurrence, perhaps the first thing a reader, or listener, must be promised (reader: consumer of artificial time).

For the sake of contrast, to look at books language, a more rigorously dull example, the opener “I have an world idea” does not offer the Finance project help analysis, same hope, or seduction, or promise (particularly if I am the “I”). Even the verb is static and suggests nothing approximating a moment. Time is being excluded, and look at all the History channel world, people already falling asleep. “Once upon a time” is far more promising (something happened, something happened!). We might need to believe that the clock is ticking before we begin to invest our sympathies, our attentions, our energy. Fiction has, of course, since dropped this ingratiating, hospitable opener in Pictures of money denominations, favor of subtler seductions, gentler heraldings of story. But it is rare not to feel the History world, clock before the Writing scholarship essay on graph, first page is done, a verb moving the people and furniture around (whereas “having an idea” does not allow us to picture anything, other than, possibly, a man on a toilet). The physical verbs are waiting to assert themselves, to provide moments that we are meant to believe in, and verbs, traditionally, are what characters use to channel, stir up the Pictures of money denominations, trouble we call fiction.

Without physical verbs we have static think pieces, essays, philosophical musings. There is world, no stirring, because generally there is nobody there holding a spoon. This will be an Pictures of money denominations interesting distinction to remember. Maybe this is as it should be, since Proust said the History channel world, duty of the literary artist was to tell the truth about time. Finance Project Analysis. Aside from blanching at the notion of duty, which is one of the required notions to blanch at, it seems clear to me that Proust’s edict, interpreted variously, has served as a bellwether for most thriving traditions of fiction (which held true, of course, before Proust articulated it).

If fiction has a main theme, a primary character, an occupation, a methodology, a criteria, a standard, a purpose (is there anything else left for fiction to have?), it would be time itself. Fiction is the History, production of false time for readers to experience. Most fiction seeks to become time . Without time, fiction is nonfiction. Yes, that’s arguable—we have Borges, Roussel, Christine Brooke-Rose, and Robbe-Grillet, after all, among others, to tell us otherwise, and it is in part their legacy, their followers (witting or not), whose pages will be shaken here until we have something that counts for a portrait of Finance project help, this anti-story tradition. One basic meaning of narrative, then: to channel world war 2, create time where there was none.

A fiction writer who tells stories is scholarship essay based, a maker of time. Not liking a story might be akin to not believing in its depictions of time. It sounds facile to say that stories occur, but it is part of the larger, relentless persuasion that time both is and envelops the practice we call story. We cannot easily separate the two. Yet if time is the channel, most taken-for-granted aspect of Longman paper, fiction writing, it would seem precisely like the good hard wall a young, ambitious writer would want to channel world war 2, bang his head against, in order to walk and talk newly in the world of fiction (that’s still the desire, right?). Homework Helpers. To the writer searching for the obstacle to surpass , time would look plenty worthy a hurdle. If something must be overcome, ruined, subverted in order for world war 2 fiction to stay matterful (yes, maybe the metaphor of progress in literary art is pretentious and analysis, tired at History, this point (there’s time again, aging what was once such a fine idea)), then time would be the thing to beat, the paper, thing fiction seemingly cannot do without, and History, therefore, to paper, grow or change, must. John Haskell is among an History channel intriguing new group of writers chiseling away at the forms of Longman paper dictionary, fiction writing without appearing exhaustingly experimental (read: unreadable). Haskell is working primarily without or around time, producing fiction that might appear more essayistic, discursive, inert, philosophical, and, well, literally timeless (which is not yet to say that his debut book is for the ages ). Yes, I said “inert,” because things do not have to move to be interesting. Think mountain.

Think dead person. Think thought. I say “think,” because Haskell is a thinker, and although he writes often about film, you could not film what he writes. I Am Not Jackson Pollock contains some storylike moments, but it is primarily a new kind of fiction, one that, curiously, hardly seems interested in war 2, fiction at all (which is not to suggest that it reads autobiographically—the opposite is true, which makes a great case for Dissertation secret-keeping). Haskell might be indebted to History channel, Borges, but not in the way most so-called imaginative writers are. There’s no obsession with infinity and worlds within worlds, no conceptual masterminding at work to showcase a stoner’s tripped-out, house-of-Escher mentality, not much that would qualify as being made up. Haskell is uk structure, more interested in using modest, unassuming forms of nonfiction, as did Borges or Sterne (albeit Haskell does not perpetrate extravagant untruths): the essay, the report, the biographical sketch, the character analysis (this last is Haskell’s favorite, from real people like Glenn Gould and History channel, Jackson Pollock, to film characters like Anthony Perkins’s innkeeper in Psycho , to Topsy, the first elephant executed by language electricity). Haskell does not write characters so much as he writes about war 2 them, and it is this willful instinct toward exposition that is books language, so curiously distinctive and History channel, unusual in the story-driven world of most new fiction. A fair question here might be this: where is the services, fiction in this, if these “stories” of Haskell’s refuse story and then faithfully essay to supply information, respectable information, analysis, and reflection, just as nonfiction might? And one fair answer might be: John Haskell’s primary fiction, overriding his entire project, the place where his fiction is located, is precisely in his puzzling gesture of History channel, calling these pieces fiction in the first place. He is fictionalizing his genre.

Or, in Writing scholarship, other words, his fiction is channel, genre itself. Haskell is not an artist in a particular genre, he is an artist of genre. To do what Haskell does is to take several genuine risks, which occasions a word or two about risk. What could a writer in our country possibly be risking, other than his own pride, livelihood, or publishability, which are not exactly noble losses should they actually be lost? (Many of us began writing without pride and publishability anyway, and I’m not exactly clear what livelihood is.) Yet risk is the most urgent exhortation of what we are supposed to take when we write fiction (which is somehow different from the kind of taking a story does when it takes place). Finance. Fiction is praised when it is channel war 2, called “risky,” but this sort of risk usually involves shattering, shameful disclosures. (I could fill the rest of this essay with examples of shattering, shameful disclosures, but maybe just one will do: while wrestling with my dog, experimenting on a new hold called “the Sumatra,” we ended up horizontal on the lawn, head to toe, and thereupon commenced a directed nuzzling, a purposeful mouth-to-balls activity, that in some quarters of academe is referred to Writing on graph, as the sixty-nine, which then became a standard “variation” on the “Sumatra,” well into adulthood (especially into adulthood)). With secret-telling having become its own lucrative industry, it’s hard to fathom what a risk of channel world, subject-matter might be (though I’m certain better, scarier secrets are approaching in next season’s books, however ill-equipped my imagination is to conceive them). Risks of form, on the other hand, might seem more provocative, more inherently interesting to those attuned to the established modes and means of fiction writing (Hey, you guys!), but the project, risk more often cited in these cases is the financial sort that a publisher takes in publishing such work. They risk not selling enough books.

And they are sorry but they cannot take that risk (it is channel world, interesting that the of money denominations, writer is History channel world, supposed to be risky while the publisher is not). Risk might very well have a more palpable financial meaning than an of money denominations artistic one. So while it is no longer clear what literary risk is—perhaps the term has been molested to death, like those other harassed words: edgy, innovative, startling, stunning—it could be more appropriate to say that within the larger, hapless chance-taking of History war 2, writing at all (when indifference is about the Homework helpers and composition, scariest, and channel war 2, likeliest, response most of us might face), writing fiction without story seems especially curious, willfully self-marginalizing, and therefore very much worth considering. (No, not all obscure literary gestures are “interesting,” but something akin to Homework helpers language and composition, playing golf without one’s body, as John Haskell might be doing, is.) The shopworn adage “show-don’t-tell” reinforces the History channel war 2, ethos that fiction must have a story, and warns a writer away from discursive, essayistic moments and exposition, which apparently amount to a kind of quicksand for the writer (a statement that presupposes motion as a valuable aspect of of money, fiction writing). History World War 2. Haskell’s quicksand is rich as a batter and quite worth getting trapped in, although so much inertia can feel confining. If we are to be cast in Longman paper dictionary, mud, and then smothered, we want our demise to be fascinating. Telling is supposedly insufficient, it cannot produce a quality demise, since it does not dramatize a moment, or in fact does not even supply a moment at all.

Telling is stingy with time. Yet even though we “tell” a story, we only do it well when we do not actually tell it, but show that story occurring in time. Does telling fail because it discriminates against the notion of moments entirely? Take this paragraph in channel world war 2, Haskell’s story, “The Faces of Joan of Arc.” Hedy Lamarr, through most of the movie, takes the side of those in authority, which is not the same as having authority. Obedience is of money denominations, a way of reconciling oneself to a lack of world, authority or a lack of help, choice.

But it’s not the only way. This is History world, a funny (read: not-so-funny) way to Longman, start a section in History channel, a story, but this is Haskell in his psychological mode, and it’s a tone he turns to frequently, which can make parts of Finance project analysis, this book sound eerily similar to the DSM-IV-TR Case Studies: A Clinical Guide to Differential Diagnosis . His exposition is dutiful and persistent, but he oddly does not seem to be using it to History channel war 2, generate sympathy, which is what a narrative writer might hope for after disclosing details of character. Minimalism in fiction, which at its best extracted psychology purely from surfaces, would be anathema to scholarship, Haskell. One of his favorite things to do, his pet point throughout the History channel world, book, is to probe the interior conflicts within a character, but the effect is rather more coldly intellectual than warmly empathic: She creates a space between what she does and who she feels she is, so at services, least she can live with a little peace. He wanted to let whatever it was inside of History, him come out, and then change it, and by Dissertation changing that he was hoping everything else would change. Inside that bubble he could relax and let who he was come out. She waited until what the camera wanted was fairly close to what she wanted, and although this wasn’t a perfect arrangement, she could pretend to stand it. … the man wanted to bring out whatever it was inside the boy. Haskell is expert at clarifying the moments when his characters feel estranged from themselves. History. The defiance of Haskell’s title is a form of self-denial echoed throughout most of these stories.

He is so shrewd at depicting this sort of moment, that for him it is apparently sufficient to Dissertation services uk structure, carry whole stories. Once he has achieved the revelation, he seems ready to end his story. If he has a deficiency, it’s his inability to convert his fascinations into History channel war 2 whole pieces of Pictures denominations, writing that prove the world, artistic adequacy of his idea. If Haskell is Homework, desperate to show us how people hide from themselves and conspire against History war 2, their own better interests, working as multiple identities in agonizing contexts—which is, after all, a familiar enough idea routinely explored, or dramatized, by many writers—then it’s upon essay based, him to make our experience of this idea immediate, visceral, and potently refreshed. Maybe it’s not upon him , but when the idea is channel world war 2, centralized, as it is in Haskell’s work, and narrative is deliberately excluded, there is a risk when that idea does not seem novel.

To be fair, Haskell has no real comforting tradition to of money denominations, fall back on, to guide him in his efforts, so he must invent for himself what an ending, in this sort of world war 2, writing, might look like. It’s an original path he has chosen, and it will be rewarding to project help, watch this exceptional writer as he navigates this new territory for fiction. When a prose writer such as Haskell surmises a distinction between story and fiction, as he so intriguingly has, a critic can safely ask after the absent story and not be upbraided for assuming that fiction must have one. A writer thus interested anyway in dividing the two projects risks an error of category, or at war 2, the least risks being read incorrectly (not that reading correctly sounds like a very compelling thing to be doing). But when, for example, David Markson, an project expository novelist who fired the starting gun for fictions of information and proved that pure exposition can be alarmingly moving, who purposefully tells instead of History world war 2, shows, is dismissed in The New York Times for failing to provide a story in his novel Reader’s Block , no discussion follows about Pictures of money why, exactly, fiction must have one (at 150 words in the book review, how could any discussion follow?). Nor do we learn what a story might have looked like in such an exquisitely felt book that, to summarize, catalogs the various ways historical figures have hated whole races of people and/or died by their own hands. (Yes, you should read this book.) Markson should have presumably, under the world, fiction-must-have-a-story criteria , zeroed in on helpers one of his hundreds of characters and gone deep, doing that good old-time psychological work, the person-making stuff, dramatizing how such an interesting fellow had gone on to hate Jews and/or kill himself. Markson should have used more words like “then.” He should have sequenced. World. He seems to have forgotten that literature is supposedly a time-based art. Markson’s amnesia is paper, one of the happy accidents of the last decade of fiction writing. By eschewing a fetishistic, conventional interest in character, or a dutiful allegiance to moment creation, to occurrence itself, Markson accomplishes what a story, slogging through time and obedient to momentum, arguably could not: a commanding, obsessive portrait of single behaviors throughout history, a catalog of atrocity that overwhelms through relentless example.

In truth, it’s a novel that can be read as an essay, but unlike most essays, it’s lyrically shrewd, poetry in the form of history, and it’s brave enough to provide creepy, gaping holes where we normally might encounter context (the burden of the conventional essayist). This might explain a new category of History war 2, writing, the lyric essay, swelling special issues of literary magazines (such as The Seneca Review ) and, in particular, a new, provocative anthology: The Next American Essay , edited (orchestrated, masterminded, realized) by The hunger John D’Agata, the form’s single-handed, shrewd champion. The lyric essayist seems to channel world war 2, enjoy all of the liberties of the fiction writer, with none of a fiction writer’s burden of unreality, the nasty fact that none of this ever really happened that a fiction writer daily wakes to. One can never say of the lyric essayist’s work that “it’s just fiction,” a vacuous but prevalent dismissal akin to criticizing someone with his own name. Of Money. The lyric essay is a rather ingenious label, since the History war 2, essayist supposedly starts out with something real, whereas the fiction writer labors under a burden to prove, or create, that reality, and can expect mistrust and doubt from a reader at the outset. Finance Help Analysis. In fiction, lyricism can look like evasion, special pleading, pretension. In the essay, it is apparently artistic, a lovely sideshow to History, The Real that, if you let it, will enhance what you think you know. The implied secret here is that one of the smartest ways to write fiction today is to say that you’re not, and then do whatever you very well please. Fiction writers take note. Denominations. Some of the best fiction is these days being written as nonfiction. The Next American Essay proceeds chronologically from war 2, 1975 to 2003, from Homework and composition, John McPhee (a re-animated Monopoly game) to Jenny Boully (all footnotes, no text), with D’Agata practicing his own artful transitions before each piece, waxing witty, smart, personal, mute, cleverly obtuse, passionate, lucid, myopic.

D’Agata’s transitions alone, which show how alive an anthology can be, and would make any editor envious, provide a toolbox of categorically adulterous leapfrogs that could outfit a whole new generation of world, writers with the skills to launch an impressive and relevant movement of writing. D’Agata as editor seems capable of reconfiguring almost anyone’s writing, like Robert Ashley collating found music into his own opera. D’Agata decides what’s beautiful and makes it so through expert arrangement. Finance Help. There are writers here, Sherman Alexie among them, who must have been surprised to discover their stories qualified as lyric essays. D’Agata justifies the History channel world war 2, choice of Alexie by claiming that fiction is a protective term, providing shelter for difficult material, which is uk structure, really essayistic in nature. Channel World. All fiction writers should be so lucky. The flagship practitioner of the lyric essay, who seems early on to have inspired D’Agata’s editorial imagination, is the Canadian poet Anne Carson.

Under the books, banner of History world, poetry, Carson has produced some of the most rigorously intelligent and The hunger essay, beautiful writing of the last ten years: essays, stories, arguments, poems, most provocatively in her early collection, Plainwater . Her piece, “Short Talks,” which she describes as one-minute lectures, and which moves through the history of philosophy like a flip-book of civilization, offering stern commandments and graceful fall-aways, simultaneously qualifies as fiction, poetry, and essay, and is championed protectively by ambassadors from each genre. The loose criteria for the lyric essay seems to invoke a kind of channel, nonfiction not burdened by research or fact, yet responsible (if necessary) to sense and poetry, shrewdly allegiant to no expectations of denominations, genre other than the demands of world, its own subject. If that sounds strangely like fiction, several of the paper dictionary, writers included here, Harry Mathews, Carole Maso, and Lydia Davis among them, first published their pieces in History war 2, that genre, and will no doubt continue to. Others, like Carson or Boully or Joe Wenderoth, have consistently termed their work poetry. Project Analysis. Thalia Field has published her singular writing under the label of History world, fiction, although it seems better read as poetry. Here, of course, it is an essay, as are works of autobiography. David Antin shows up with more of his astonishingly boring diaries, continuing his decades-long ruse of consequence. Longman Paper. Thankfully he cannot single-handedly ruin an anthology. History War 2. David Shields provides a Lishian catalog of cliches that accrue curious meanings and dictionary, expose how revealing banal language can actually be.

And stalwarts like Joan Didion, David Foster Wallace, and History channel war 2, Susan Sontag throw in with fierce, ambitious contributions that actually always were essays, although this lack of The hunger games essay, genre-hopping is in History channel, the minority. Sadly absent from what is otherwise one of the essay based on graph, most significant anthologies published in years are a few true voices of the essay who would have fit right in with these other inspired eccentrics, among them: Daniel Harris, Lawrence Weschler, Joy Williams, and Dallas Wiebe. One instantly wonders how the chosen genre appellation liberates or constricts the writer, and whether or not John Haskell, absent from History channel world war 2, D’Agata’s all-star selection, would have fared better (whatever that might mean) under a different label, with someone like D’Agata warming-up for services uk structure him. Might he be more appreciated as a lyric essayist, an artist of information not saddled by conventional readerly expectations? I ask because Haskell seems to suffer slightly when evaluated as a fiction writer, when one brings hopes of story to his book, which are hard not to bring. There’s the History channel war 2, implied tedium of fiction not driven by story, particularly if a reader is Writing essay based, expecting one (of course tedium, as Robbe-Grillet showed, can have its thrills). With storyless fiction, one suspects an intellectual lesson is at hand, instead of entertainment (this must either be fun or it must be good for me), with a reader’s pleasure not high on the author’s agenda. Expectation can flatten a reader’s willingness to forestall desires for story.

It is world war 2, similar to services, feeling forever trapped in war 2, a flashback, waiting for the current scene. Games Essay. A reader saves attention and energy if he senses that what he’s reading is not primary, the thing itself, and that the real story is ahead, and attention is the commodity the writer is striving to create, at all costs. Haskell’s book could very nearly be shelved uncontested in the film studies section of the bookstore, and here it might perform its rogue fictionalizations with more astonishment, reversing his style of History channel world war 2, ambush, so to speak, since it is Dissertation services, much more a collection of film studies with bursts of History channel world war 2, unreality, than it is a burst of unreality with moments of film studies. It might just be that the genre bending fiction writers—John Haskell, David Markson among them—so far, lack a champion like John D’Agata, although there’s no reason to think that he won’t be luring more fiction writers into his protective, liberating fold, where these categories can cease to matter. Once upon a time there will be readers who won’t care what imaginative writing is Homework books, called and will read it for its passion, its force of intellect, and for its formal originality.

In literature, this is the arrangement of The hunger games events to channel world war 2, achieve an intended effect consisting of Finance project help analysis a series of carefully devised and interrelated actions that progress through a struggle of opposing forces, called conflict, to a climax and channel war 2 a denouement. This is different from story or story line which is the order of events as they occur.” (Plot, 2000) The plot strategy employed in this story is somewhat similar to that of William Faulkner’s, “A rose for Emily.” Yet the events do not keep moving back and forth like it happens in “A rose for dictionary, Emily”. Here the story begins with the conflict as the plot is arranged in media res.

The conflict is History channel world war 2 presented so well with descriptions plotting the minute of details so that the Homework helpers books language and composition, scene becomes live with magnified effects. Channel World War 2! Rushdie portrays a conflict from the first to the sixth paragraph; the conflict being that both sister and brother wanted to hire a professional thief. The intensity of the conflict is reinforced when Huma returns to Homework helpers, the same place to hire a thief even after her brother is robbed and war 2 almost beaten to death. What could possibly be the reason that could lead a respectable and beautiful girl to take such drastic action? With all these questions in the head the project, reader is taken into a journey where those questions will be answered. The seventh paragraph employs the technique of flashback revealing incidents that lead Huma and Atta to this stage.

Flashbacks are stories within a story and they tell about a characters memory of History channel world war 2 something that happened in the past. Thus within the flashback the exposition is put to play propitiously. The exposition is the part of a story that introduces the dictionary, theme, setting, characters, and circumstances of the story. The flashback here acts as the exposition. The exposition creates a solid and reality like situation as the characters and settings have been exploited effectively. Within the exposition the details of the conflict is revealed and clearly explained. The protagonist Hashim faces an internal man versus himself conflict. He is faced with an internal dilemma and he makes his choices and justifies it himself. For instance the following verse is clearly is an war 2 example of it, “… the Prophet would have disapproved mightily of this relic-worship. … I see it purely as a secular object of great rarity and blinding beauty.” Here we understand the games essay, reasons behind the actions of Atta and Huma. Within the flashback the rising action also begins as the exposition ceases. The rising action is usually the events between the exposition and climax.

The rising action begins when Hashim’s character dynamically changes, which acts as the catalyst that drives all other events. Along with beginning of the rising action the story gradually takes a transition from the past to present and the actions takes the reader into an even more suspense and thrilling journey. Huma hires the thief and also Atta is in a very critical situation fighting for his dear life. Hashim sleeps alone and the theft is cleanly planned and channel war 2 this setting arises as much question as possible and flings the reader suddenly into the climax of the Finance, story. The climax is the highest point of interest and the turning point of the story.

The reader is made to yearn to know what is going to happen next. This is the point where he wonders whether the conflict will be resolved or not? The intensity of the History channel world, thrill and the suspense takes a peak when the thief takes the vial containing the hair and Atta lets out his last breath. Things take a sudden divert in the course of action and Hashim unknowingly kills his daughter and extinguishes his own life persecuted by remorse. This is the climax of the story.

The falling action is the unfolding of events in a story’s plot and the release of scholarship tension leading toward the resolution and denouncement/resolution is the end of the story. The events and complications begin to resolve and the reader knows what has happened next and how the conflict is solved. Then as the falling action ceases it transitions into denouement; this is where the final outcome of the events or the untangling of the event takes place and the story. The story here comes to History channel war 2, a tragic end with the Writing, demise of the Hashim’s family, his wife driven to History, insanity and the thief killed and help analysis the prophet’s hair returned to its rightful place. The process in which the writer makes the characters in the story seems real to the reader. (Meyer, 2011) The main in History channel world war 2 the characters in this are Hashim, Atta, Huma and the thief. Most characters in this story are flat, since the story take a drive with a tempo towards the plotline and the climax. Below is a deep analysis of each character in the story. Longman Paper! Hashim: He is a flat dynamic character that experiences conflicting feelings concerning religion and greed. He is the protagonist of the story.

Hashim is portrayed as a self-satisfied hypocrite not only in concerning the religious side of History his character but also of Pictures denominations his business. He justifies his cruel acts saying that this is a lesson that he teaches the world, less fortunate people, “to teach these people the Finance project help analysis, value of money; let them only learn that, and they will be cured of this fever of borrowing all the time …” (Rushdie, 1981) We are also made aware about Hashim’s pride in inculcating his proud and hypocrite ways to his children “the virtues of thrift, plain dealing and a healthy independence of spirit.” (Rushdie, 1981) As the morning breakfast ends and Hashim attempts to leave his house he finds the holy hair of the prophet Muhammad. There is also a bit of foreshadowing here as Rushdie explains how Hashim sees the hair “…he feasted his eyes on channel war 2 his find.” (Rushdie, 1981) We understand that Hashim is highly interested in the relic although he thinks of returning it. The whole story takes a turn as this transition Hashim into a different character. This is where Rushdie shows us how Hashim uses religion to justify he greed and passion. He says “… the Prophet would have disapproved mightily of Dissertation services uk structure this relic-worship. … I see it purely as a secular object of great rarity and blinding beauty.” (Rushdie, 1981) This verse here portrays Hashim’s hypocrisy towards his religion. Hashim’s character totally changes from- “…living honorably in the world.” (Rushdie, 1981) – To a totally disastrous man. He becomes ironic to his old character and war 2 his vision.

He resorts to crude ways to bring his family under control and tries very hard to follow Islamic ways. He faces a huge conflict which he finds hard to resolve. Moreover Hashim understands that usury is bad in Islam and help analysis when a debtor comes in asking for more time he “…attacked the fellow with one of his large collection of bull-whips.” (Rushdie, 1981) This action as we know was against his morals in the initial stage. We see Hashim devolving or evolving into History world a totally different and unpleasant character. Later in the story Hashim becomes paranoid and services keeps the relic with him all the time.

Further he discloses disastrous information about History world, him having a mistress. Hashim is the only dynamic character in the story and his change has been portrayed well and interestingly as it is entangled with the plot line. Paper! Atta: Atta is a flat and static character. History Channel! He is the son of Hashim. Also he is one of the antagonists of the story. There is not much description about Atta.

But as the story proceeds and Atta tries to return the artifact we understand more about him through showing. Although Atta has his best interests in returning the artifact it does not have anything to do with religion but selfishness. We understand this by what Atta feels as he finds out that he lost one of the most important relics of all time, “…Atta’s initial surge of chagrin was quickly replaced by a feeling of profound feeling of relief.” (Rushdie, 1981) He is contended that his family will be returned back to Longman, normal. We at one point at the beginning also perceive Atta as a brave young man with a desperate need. History Channel World! Atta’s character does not change in the whole story because he maintains his loyalty towards his family at all times. Huma: Huma is a round and static character. She is the daughter of Hashim and one of the antagonists of the project help, story.

Her character is channel world war 2 blended with innocence, bravery, and smart as well as desperate. We are able to understand that she is brave and desperate because she came back to on graph, the same place where her brother was beaten and robbed. World! She is also portrayed as a smart person when she comes in search of a thief as she tells everyone in the vicinity “I should say that I am carrying no money, nor am I wearing any jewels; My father has disowned me and will pay no ransom if I am kidnapped; and a letter has been lodged with the commissioner of scholarship based on graph police, my uncle to be open in History world the event of my not being safe at home by morning.” (Rushdie, 1981) Unlike her brother she was smart enough to of money, keep the thieves at bay and get job done. She is world war 2 a confident and a very beautiful young woman. We are also made aware that although she does all these brave feats she is still an innocent and vulnerable young woman. She flinches at the mere sound and pats she receive when she is Writing based about to meet the History channel, thief. She is also loyal to her family and her brother and wants her family back. Sheik Sin:

Sheik Sin is a flat and and composition static character. He character depicts evil, cruelty, and ignorance. Rushdie portrays Sheik sin as a character that cannot go worse than this. He is known as the “The thief of war 2 thieves” (Rushdie, 1981) Sheik sin is old, yet he still hopes to have a luxury life. He does not care how he acquires the money to Longman paper, reach his goal but he badly wants it, “…so in History world the extraordinary commission he had accepted from the The hunger games essay, moneylender’s daughter he saw his opportunity of war 2 amassing enough wealth at a stroke to helpers books, leave the channel war 2, valley forever”(Rushdie, 1981) His parenting skills and his ignorance are portrayed through verbal irony as Rushdie tells us what he did to his sons out of love and care, “…he [Sin] had made sure they were all provided with a lifelong source of high income by crippling them at birth, so that, as they dragged themselves around the city, they earned excellent money in the begging business” (Rushdie, 1981) Sheik Sin is neither religious nor honorable, all his cravings are for money and luxury, “As for the prophet’s hair, well, neither he nor his blind wife had ever had much to say to the prophets…” (Rushdie, 1981) Sheik sin is sick and old and his cravings for Longman dictionary, money are so deep rooted that he is desperate enough to do this theft once and for all even though he knows the effects of History world war 2 stealing such an object. He is also a selfish and vile character who would not hesitate even to murder, “…was just deciding whether to dive beneath the The hunger, bed or brain the moneylender good and History channel world war 2 proper…” (Rushdie, 1981) He is essay based also an world war 2 antagonist of the story.

These are the Writing scholarship essay based on graph, four main characters that play an History channel important role in the story. All of the primary characters including the secondary characters (Hashim’s wife, the flower vendor who finds Atta, Sheik Sin’s Wife and Finance project help Children) in this story can be categorized into two groups; those whose god is money and those whose god is an actual deity that is Prophet Muhammad in this case. The thieves who beat Atta and robbed him of his money in the first paragraph are inarguably motivated by money; same applies to the flower vendor who finds him, “The flower-vendor moored his craft and by stooping over the mouth of the channel, injured man was able to Finance analysis, learn the poor fellow’s address…whereupon, hoping for a large tip, the hawker rowed Atta home” (Rushdie, 1981) The main person that portrays greed and money is Sheik Sin, whom Huma hires in the hope to rid her home of the curse. We understand this as he agrees to the job under the condition that Huma provides him with a lot of money, “…so in the extraordinary commission he had accepted from the moneylender’s daughter he saw his opportunity of amassing enough wealth at a stroke to leave the valley forever” (Rushdie, 1981) Moreover Hashim himself is channel under the spell of money until he comes across the relic where upon his allegiance changes towards religion. This triggers the main conflict which begins the rising action.

Even his family is paper under the spell of money as he and his wife instilled all of their values into their children as well. The only characters in this story that can be portrayed as a religious are the sons of Sheik Sin and his wife. History World! We are enlightened of this fact at the end of the story, where we find them being rewarded for the piety. Of course Hashim himself turns out to Longman paper dictionary, be the most important religious character upon History world war 2 his contact with the relic. He accepts Islam as his religion and project attempts to right all his wrongs. This process where all his guilt encapsulates him leads him to the brink of insanity thus extinguishing his family life. Finally the only character that cannot be categorized under these two sectors is the commissioner of police. History Channel World War 2! Rushdie uses him to portray a justice figure. He uses this character to analysis, elicit that there are bigger forces than money. He also seems to be a personification of the government in the story.

What’s in a name? The Name Hashim has an war 2 Arabic meaning when translated means the “destroyer of evil”, this gives us an Writing scholarship based idea as to how it has been interwoven with his dynamic character and channel war 2 his newly found love for Islam. Huma on the other end means “spirit” which represents innocence and purity. This is also true according to the story. Atta has a totally different meaning; it means “Egoistic”, which is at first sight true. He tries to return the hair not out of devotion but to get rid of the blunder and the curse the hair has brought. The best example a name serves in this story is Sheik sin; this name is a direct meaning as to how his character is. “Sin” is generally connected to services, evil and vile actions. Thus Sheik Sin here is used to depict the bad side of human beings.

Rushdie has used the names in this story appropriately to bring out a strong sense of connection and reality. The story takes place in the early 1980’s during winter season in channel world a rural area called Srinagar in India. Srinagar is a Kashmir valley. This story also depicts a setting that can be assumed as the beginning of the 20th century where religion and government structures were reaching its heights. The story begins in a glum winter evening as Atta reaches Srinagar from Shalimar. We understand this by the immediate transition of Atta being beaten and the description of the time, “Night fell”. (Rushdie, 1981) The story is surrounds only The hunger games, two places: One a beautiful city Shalimar, which depicts happiness and brightness; two a glum and dark village Srinagar, which depicts darkness, sadness, fear and sins. It is highly interesting as the story transitions back and forth from these places. The setting is set in both places so well that when we switch back and forth so does our sense of History world war 2 excitement.

The social environment revolves around money, honor, Respectable values and religion (Islam). Every character is concerned about his place in Dissertation uk structure society and his greed for History channel war 2, money. This story is set in two places in Longman paper dictionary India. Certain characters hope to get rid of their position in their own society as a means of escapism. The setting is ideally placed because Hashim as a wealthy person has a lot of wealth yet that becomes his guilt.

Sheik Sin the thief is already in a bad place and History wants a window out from his wretched life and sees money as a gateway for it. Yet, it consumes him and he still falls into darkness. The setting evolves entangled with money, greed, piety, religion and community in Longman paper dictionary a wonderful framework that elicits a wonderful sense of History display. The Prophet’s Hair by Salman Rushdie is paper written in third person Omniscient point of view. The writer as he describes the world war 2, setting propitiously moves from character to character narrating the story. The story line unwinds as the characters are portrayed one by one with an absolute description of the setting he is in.

We are able to understand the characters thoughts and ideas as the Pictures of money denominations, story progresses and all these are directly from each character. The story also contains dialogues with simple structured sentences with very less uncommon diction. As the channel world, writer switches between characters the reader feels the change in Writing scholarship based on graph pace, tempo and also the feelings of the character in context. The POV chosen for this is extremely suitable as it creates a humongous amount of suspense and thrill. History Channel! Also it gives a huge amount of insight as to how each character feels and thinks in response to an action or situation. The Prophet’s Hair by essay Salman Rushdie is a short story that is permeated with metaphors and symbolisms. This story shows a lot of symbolism through the world war 2, hair of the prophet.

In this story symbolism is elicited through the hair as a religious artifact, a secular object, a human heart and as a reverence. The hair symbolizes religious relic as its sacred imagery is brought out perfectly. It was restored to the Hazratbal mosque. However the loss of the hair has brought changes in the families and its ramifications handled. The symbolism of the hair can be viewed as a secular object as it is scholarship based on graph relocated to its shrine. Although the Hair is History channel world a relic, Hashim changes the meaning into Finance project help analysis an object of higher value. Even though Hashim changes the meaning of the relic according to his motives the hair still has its powers. Influenced by these powers Hashim leads his family towards destruction. The hair can be viewed as a Human heart, as we perceive Hashim spitting out his awful truths and History world secrets to his family.

This hair makes him confess how he feels about paper dictionary, his family, wife and children. Finally he feels as though he could get rid of everything that has been bothering him off his chest. The hair can be seen as an object of reverence. It symbolizes the prophet and the religion. Every year the hair is on display for all the Muslims to visit and see. Channel! People all over the world come and Homework books and composition wrap their hands and kiss it.

But ironically this is channel war 2 not how someone should respect a prophet, at least not by just kissing body parts. The proper way of showing love and respect towards the prophet is to follow his ways and follow the religion he preached. Also each character symbolizes certain aspects of paper dictionary life. For instance Sheik Sin is made to symbolize greed and vile actions, also it can be concluded that he symbolizes ignorance. Hashim symbolizes selfishness and hypocrisy. Same way certain other characters depict loyalty and religiousness, Sheik Sin’s sons and wife for instance. The Commissioner of police depicts law, justice and government.

The main theme around which the story is woven is how money and religion affects people. Also we can say that the theme revolves around an obsessive object that can influence people. The main theme deals with money and religion where both are satirized. The writer uses the History channel war 2, characters and the Hair to effectively elicit this theme. While most of the characters depict money and hypocrisy the Finance help analysis, hair symbolizes religion and faith. We are made to understand that people who weave their lives only around money and History war 2 use religion to tie their own ends will eventually meet a dead end.

The theme of this story instills in explaining the Pictures, corrupting nature of money and History channel world fundamentalist religion. Money and religion are perhaps the two most significant motivations that drive a human being, may be this story tries to comment in Longman the nature of humanity’s need for History war 2, these motivations and Homework language its ramifications. Salman Rushdie has perfected a unique style of writing that can be seen in any of his literary works. Rushdie’s distinctive style of writing can be seen from his diction and sentence structure. He uses a combination of words native to India to bring a sense of belongingness and History channel world authenticity. The Hunger! Even though the story is written in a slightly elevated form of language and channel war 2 diction it can still be easily understood by a layman. Language And Composition! Also Rushdie has used simple structures interwoven with interesting dialogues. The use of these dialogues and diction that depict a cultural and channel world war 2 geographical background makes the setting more interesting and essay based appealing. Rushdie uses a tone that as a whole brings out a mock against the people who use religion to their own selfish ends and those who live motivated by war 2 money. There is also satire in the use of words and names. This story holds a lot of ironies.

Also of ironies such as situational and verbal are used. Whatever Hashim says and Dissertation services uk structure does is totally different. He likes to say that he sets great store by living honorably in the world yet he lives by moneylending which is a habit despised by the prophet. Secondly, although he desires the History channel war 2, relic more than anything he verbally justifies it saying that he desires the silver vial more than the hair. Most importantly Sheik Sin tries to use Huma’s contract as a means to escape from his wretched life but falls into the pit of darkness because of it. Here situational irony takes play. Dissertation Services Uk Structure! Ironies are filled in all walks of this story and they hold deeper and intellectual meaning.

The usage of Indian diction and History channel world the setting of the story itself portrays post-colonialism. Similar to many third world stories this story also brings out cultural and social norms and views. Most of all Rushdie depicts the brutality of certain Indian traditions with wonderful irony. This is shown as Sheik Sin crippled all his sons so that they would have a lifelong income and would earn excellent money in scholarship on graph the begging business. The Prophet’s Hair by Salman Rushdie was a fantastic short story to read and re read. This story contains mystery, magic, and more significantly, morality as an world war 2 overt theme that is carried throughout the story. The story extends into magical realism which Rushdie has exploited so well and effectively. The form of the Dissertation services, story is such that the tone is crisp, swift and pointed. It moves with a slightly paced tempo and is filled with rising actions and suspense. War 2! The opening paragraph captures the reader’s eye and raises a lot of questions that compel the reader into scholarship essay based on graph finishing the story. Also this story was quite interesting as it revolved around the two most significant motivation of man: Money and religion.

As I read this story I learned certain lessons as to how one should not use religion to his own selfish ends and also to live by a middle path. This story acts as a fable. Most of all the veiled satire that Rushdie employs to bring out his view interested me, yet the channel war 2, outcome was a bit unexpected. Rushdie portrays that anyone who decides to follow Islam may have calamity befalling them. He does this by showing what happens to Hashim and his family as Hashim decided to become pious and righteous. But when I viewed it from a broader perspective where I saw Islam as a tool to depict all religion I understood the story in a totally different way. I understood that the author satirically attacks fundamental devotedness, but not just of Islam, fundamentalism and Pictures of money denominations hypocrisy generally speaking. Because of his quite oriental style of History channel world writing the story is a rather difficult to grasp immediately. It requires the reader to pay close attention and read more carefully. In conclusion, through a thorough analysis of this story from a post-colonial perspective I have understood how the author uses significant tools to bring out Homework books, a deeper meaning.

The Prophet’s Hair by Salman Rushdie is more like a moralistic fairy tale using religious elements. Through the analysis of the characters I have been able to grasp how these characters can be more than what they surface out to be. Moreover, by examining the literary elements of this short story I was able to understand how Rushdie exploits magical realism to bring out his wonderful point of views. (n.d.). The scoresheets once again contain percentiles for the MBE sub-scores (this information used to be included on score reports but was removed just prior to NCBE's introduction of Civil Procedure to the MBE). These percentiles tell you how many examinees you did better than nationally for of money denominations each MBE subject and world, overall. For example, if your %tile for Civil Procedure is 63.6, it means that you scored better than 63.6% of examinees nationwide (out of about 23,000 F17 examinees) on the 25 graded Civil Procedure MBE questions. What these percentiles don't tell you are your raw scores (e.g. Finance Project? that you answered 12/25 of the Civil Procedure MBE questions correctly, meaning 48% correct for Civil Procedure).

If I receive this percentile information from History channel world war 2 F17 examinees, I can figure out the raw scores (I have done this with NY scores for years). You can then correlate your exam MBE scores to your practice MBE scores (e.g. if you were getting 70% correct on Homework helpers Civil Procedure questions in practice but 48% correct on the exam, you should find a better source of Civil Procedure MBE practice questions). However, I can't figure out the raw scores until I receive at least 100 scoresheets from examinees so I can factor in world, all the permutations. 03-27-17: I will be posting free MP3s of some of the older MEE exams. The F16 results were released 62 days from the test end date, and I expect there to History war 2 be more F17 examinees than F16 examinees. More importantly, F16 was pre-UBE so there was 300 minutes of written content per examinee. The F17 UBE consists of 360 minutes of written content per examinee.

This is a 20% increase in content the graders must read. If NYBOLE releases the F17 scores earlier than the F16 scores, it kind of suggests they put a bit less effort into Writing based on graph, grading the F17 essays/MPTs. History Channel? In comparison, Pennsylvania's average July overall pass rate over Homework language, the past 20 July exams is 74.6%. Unfortunately, I expect bar exam pass rates to war 2 continue to services decline until at least 2018.

I expect bar exam pass rates to continue to channel decline until at help, least 2018 (meaning your odds of passing will diminish with each exam you take). Bar exam pass rates are tied to the MBE (e.g. if the MBE average for an administration goes up, the History channel war 2 pass rates almost always go up). MBE scores are correlated with LSAT scores. Thus, I use the Dissertation 25th Percentile LSAT and 75th Percentile LSAT as a barometer for pass rates. If the Average LSAT for a class of History, matriculants drops as compared to the prior class, I similarly expect their bar exam pass rates to drop as compared to paper the prior class (the raw data can be viewed here). I estimate that the 2012 Full-Time Law School Matriculants (who took the bar exam in 2015) had a 25th LSAT Percentile of 154.1 and a 75th LSAT Percentile of 159.9. The 2013 Full-Time Law School Matriculants (who take the channel world bar exam in 2016) had a 25th LSAT Percentile of 153.6 and a 75th LSAT Percentile of based, 159.5 (a decrease in both Percentiles). Because the History world war 2 2013 Full-Time Law School Matriculants are statistically less capable than the The hunger games 2012 Full-Time Law School Matriculants, it is reasonable to presume that the 2016 July bar pass rates will be lower than the 2015 July bar pass rates. Furthermore, the History world war 2 2014 Full-Time Law School Matriculants (who take the bar exam in 2017) had a 25th LSAT Percentile of 153.2 and a 75th LSAT Percentile of project, 159.3 while the 2015 Full-Time Law School Matriculants (who take the bar exam in 2018) had a 25th LSAT Percentile of 153.1 and a 75th LSAT Percentile of 159.1 (even lower). Thus, I expect bar pass rates to war 2 continue to decline until at scholarship on graph, least 2018.

09-14-16: In a 2015 post, I mentioned that the July 2015 pass rates were abnormally low. History Channel War 2? It was recently announced that the Georgia bar examiners made a mistake with the July 2015 scaling, leading to Georgia's abnormally low July 2015 pass rate. I am beginning to wonder if this problem also occurred in other states. For example, Georgia's J15 pass rate reported below (which takes into account the Longman extra failers) was 13.08% below their 20 year July average. Meanwhile, there are 7 other states with even larger differences between their J15 pass rate and History channel world war 2, 20 year July pass rate average. Based on NCBE data, only 4 states had a July 2015 pass rate above their 20 year average (from 1995-2014). Delaware had the scholarship based on graph best increase, passing 3.76% more examinees than their 20 year July average. The trend has been to release earlier, and for the last two years, the channel world release has been near the dictionary end of History channel world war 2, April. The MBE average was low this year (135) and Longman dictionary, this MBE average is History channel, positively correlated with pass rates. Personally, I believe that the addition of the Finance analysis new MBE subject of Civil Procedure (added in History war 2, 2015) has driven down MBE averages. You can see it happen when Constitutional Law was added in 1976 (see below). I believe this is why NBCE stopped releasing sub-scores on Pictures the score reports in History channel world, 2014 to de-emphasize the expected low scores. The following table charts the February MBE national averages from 1974 to Longman paper 2016.

I have been giving advice on the bar exam since then, and I have maintained a supplemental bar review subscription site since 2008 (although it becomes less and world war 2, less supplemental with each passing year). For the past eight years, this site has ranked at the top of Google, Bing and helpers, Yahoo for advice on the UBE Bar Exam. In that time, I have spent a great deal of time analyzing the bar exam. For example, I have collected scoring information from over 4,000+ failing examinees and world, reviewed over 2,500+ examinee essays and Dissertation services, 500+ examinee MPTs. This site now also ranks at the top of Google, Bing and Yahoo for advice on the UBE Bar Exam.

I work on the subscription site full-time year-round and I work alone. In some ways, this is a good thing while in other ways it is a bad thing. It is a good thing in History channel world, that there is probably no one in based, the world who knows more about the bar exam than myself. Over the past eight years, I have spoken to thousands of History, examinees, examined thousands of Homework helpers, score reports, and reviewed thousands of graded essays and MPTs (all the world while, cataloging everything). Thus, when I give advice, it is Finance project analysis, based on real people and History world war 2, real data. Everything I tell examinees to do (MASTER essay priorities, MBE strategies, etc.), I fully explain the rationale behind it. Helpers Books And Composition? In a way, it makes the subscription site much more daunting (I am aware of this), but I feel it is important for examinees to understand why I am telling them to do something. However, working alone is History war 2, sometimes also a bad thing. For example, I occasionally cannot get material out as fast as a full bar review (for example, I don't release a prioritized MASTER outline for an exam until about games 50-60 days before that exam). History Channel World War 2? I am also sometimes slow to respond to Longman dictionary examinees (for example, it takes me days to respond to History channel emails after an exam; after scores are released; or when I am working on the MASTER priorities).

Based on everything I have examined over the years, I have concluded that passing the bar exam depends much more on the person than the bar review or bar materials. To illustrate, I took all the relevant data scattered throughout two New York Board of Law Examiner studies of the July 2005 and Feb 2006 exams and created a Demographic Chart based on Longman paper this data. History World War 2? I essentially culled all the information in the various NYBOLE charts and The hunger games essay, then matched it up to determine average pass rates for each of the different demographics reported in the NYBOLE studies. When failing examinees send me their scores (examinees complete a Score Analysis form or a Post Exam Followup form that asks for certain information such as their Education, Gender, Race, and number of attempts), I end up finding that this information generally correlates fairly well with the channel war 2 Demographic Chart that is based on the NYBOLE statistics. For example, I find that a Foreign-Educated First-Time Taker who is Asian/Pacific Islander taking a July exam who sends me his/her scores usually has an average final score between 630-640, which corresponds with the results in the Demographic Chart. Meanwhile, based on the Demographic Chart, the examinees with the highest pass rate are Domestic-Educated First-Time Takers who are Caucasian/White sitting for a July exam - these examinees have an average final score of 738 and an average pass rate of 87.5%. This means that if you are a domestic-educated first time taker with a high LPGA (above 3.2), you are probably going to pass the Writing scholarship based bar exam irrespective of the bar review that you choose or study methods that you employ. In a 1986 study, after controlling for law school quality, test reliability, subject matter and test type, time limits, and the ability to take tests, researchers concluded that “the higher the law school grade point average (LGPA), the greater the likelihood the applicant will pass. No other measured variable really mattered once there was control for LGPA .” Stephen P. Klein, The Performance of Novice Law Students and Law School Graduates on the Bar Exam (Chicago, 1986) (emphasis added) . NCBE released a study in 2007 after New York increased the passing score to 665 in 2005 in order to determine its impact. Channel World? The study again found that performance on Dissertation services the bar exam was strongly correlated with performance in History war 2, law school, as measured by law school grade point average (LGPA).

In August 2013, a research study entitled Bar Passage: GPA and LSAT, not Bar Reviews by Nicholas L. Georgakopoulos found that the choice of a bar review course had little consequence in examinee outcomes. Instead, the study found that examinees with a GPA below 2.6 passed the bar at a less than 10% rate while examinees with a GPA over 3.2 passed the bar at a well over 95% rate. According to project help analysis the author of the paper, “ a likely interpretation is that bar preparation is an activity where the quality or style of History channel, instruction has relatively little consequence for passing the bar, whereas law school instruction has significant impact. This interpretation would be consistent with the notion that bar preparation is rote memorization and stands in contrast to the learning of The hunger essay, legal analysis in History, law school, which seems to be what makes the difference in passing the bar examination. ” According to the 2007 NCBE study, domestic educated candidates who took the bar exam for the first time in Longman dictionary, July 2005 obtained a mean total bar score of 727.44 (well above the 665 passing score). Basically, if you did well in law school, you should do well on channel world war 2 the NY bar exam. In New York over the past 20 years, the February ABA First-Timers Pass Rate is 75.1% while the July ABA First-Timers Pass Rate is 86.7%. Homework Language And Composition? The February ABA Repeaters Pass Rate is 45.2% while the July ABA Repeaters Pass Rate is 32.5%. If you are a domestic-educated candidate taking the New York bar exam for the first time, there is a 94.7% chance that you will pass by your third attempt. History Channel War 2? Accordingly, if you have a high LPGA (above 3.2) or are a good standardized test-taker, you are probably going to pass the bar exam irrespective of the paper dictionary future bar review you choose. However, if you are a low LGPA examinee or a poor standardized test-taker, you may want to consider subscribing.

Essentially, law school GPA is the most determinative factor of bar passage - the higher the law school grade point average, the greater the likelihood an examinee will pass. I believe there is a strong correlation between law school performance and world, bar exam performance because good performance in both requires adaptation in learning. As explained above, rote memorization of the law is insufficient for good performance on a bar exam. The best example of this is the MBE, where you not only need to know the law, but also analyze equally plausible choices. Good exam performance stems from Finance project help analysis a continual process of improvement in learning. Accordingly, this site is History channel world war 2, primarily intended for bar exam retakers, as statistically, it becomes harder and dictionary, harder to pass the New York bar exam with each attempt. Channel World? In October 2006, NY BOLE released a paper entitled Impact of the Increase in the Passing Score on services uk structure the New York Bar Examination July 2005 Bar Administration (see http://www.nybarexam.org/press/ncberep.pdf, pages 83, 90-91). This study was done when the pass rate in New York was 660 (it is raised to 665 in 2005). According to the study, with a passing score of world, 665, the projected pass rate for Domestic-Educated First-Time Takers was 83%; the projected pass rate for Domestic-Educated Second-Time Takers was 30%; and the projected pass rate for Domestic-Educated Third-Time Takers was 23.2%. Meanwhile, the projected pass rate for Foreign-Educated First-Time Takers was 43.9% while the projected pass rate for scholarship Foreign-Educated Repeaters was 13.5% (id. at pages 95, 98).

As you can see, pass rates plummet for History channel re-takers, even for the ones most likely to pass, namely domestic-educated takers. In looking at helpers books language, recent data, based on pass rates for the New York Bar Exam from 2012-2015, domestic-educated examinees taking the channel war 2 exam for the first time had an overall pass rate of 82% while foreign-educated examinees taking the of money exam for the first time had an overall pass rate of 42%. In regards to retakers, domestic-educated retakers had an overall pass rate of 40% while foreign-educated retakers had an overall pass rate of 23%. You can look at the Pass Rates section below to read more about channel world war 2 this. As such, while the actual pass rates for retakers are not as low as the Dissertation ones projected by NYBOLE, the channel war 2 pass rates for retakers are still very low. After collecting scoring information from many failing examinees, I have found that it is not easy task for an examinee to escape their demographic. For example, foreign examinees from the United Kingdom have an overall pass rate of 28%.

When I review scores from denominations British examinees, I generally find that it takes them about 4 attempts before they pass the exam. What the demographics don't provide are the specific reasons as to why examinees fail the exam. I believe the main reason examinees fail the channel war 2 exam is because they simply do not put the amount of time into Finance project analysis, the exam that is required (in both study and practice). Often, examinees that fail the exam simply did not learn enough. If you only History channel, have a superficial knowledge of the information being tested on denominations the exam, you probably won't pass the world war 2 exam. Writing Essay Based? The second biggest reason for channel war 2 failure is inefficient study and poor exam technique. For example, more than half of the failing examinees who supplied information to me reported that they improperly managed their exam time. If you fail to of money plan, plan to fail. To be successful at something, a person must be in a state of continual improvement (myself included).

I passed the NY bar exam in July 2005 on my first attempt (162 MBE) and made this site shortly thereafter. Channel War 2? Examinees then began to send me their scores and essays. I started sending examinees a free 1-page analysis report on their scores in 2008 and essay, it has grown to the point where I now provide failing examinees with a free 11 page comprehensive analysis of their scores and a free 43 page detailed analysis of History channel, their essays/MPT. I create these analysis reports for two purposes: (1) they help examinees better recognize/understand their mistakes; and (2) the information helps me better understand the exam. In 2008, I also created the prioritized MASTER outline for scholarship based on graph the essays and have documented the accuracy of channel world war 2, this MASTER essay outline since its inception (I regard it as bar review malpractice to not examine and report on the effectiveness of the Pictures denominations information provided to examinees). I realize that I am very fortunate to be in a position where I get to speak with many examinees about the exam.

I don’t take this for granted and History world war 2, I continually work on improving what I do (while cataloging everything): In the past eight years, I have spent more time analyzing the Longman paper dictionary NY bar exam than any single person in channel world war 2, the world. In that time, I have examined the scores from over Dissertation services, 4,000 failing examinees and History channel world, reviewed over essay, 2,500 graded essays/MPTs. In the bar review off-season, I spend the bulk of my time researching and analyzing. Since 2005, I have spent over 15,000 hours researching the components of the bar exam.

For example, over the years, I have collected over History channel, 25,000 outlines (if you want to Homework books language send me yours, please send them to channel joe@seperac.com) and purchased over 1,500 law books. For each lawbook/casebook/hornbook I acquire, I cut off the spine using an Finance help analysis industrial paper cutter, scan the History channel world pages, and then OCR the resulting PDF in order to search the language text. I then use a search program that lets me create an indexed searchable database that is currently over 500GB in size. History Channel World War 2? I can essentially find/research anything related to the bar exam in a matter of seconds, whether it is the answer to an MBE question or some arcane legal principle. Put simply, if you have any question at all that is somewhat related to Dissertation services uk structure the exam, I can almost certainly answer it. Also included in channel war 2, the database are cases and opinions: NYSBA Ethics Opinions from 001 to 951 (to Dec 2014); New York Court of Appeals Decisions from 1992 to Homework helpers books Dec 2014; New York Appellate Division, First Dept Decisions from 1970 to Dec 2014; New York Appellate Division, Second Dept Decisions from 1970 to Dec 2014; New York Appellate Division, Third Dept Decisions from 1970 to Dec 2014; New York Appellate Division, Fourth Dept Decisions from 1970 to Dec 2014; New York SLIP Decisions from Dec 03 to Dec 2014; New York Court of channel world war 2, Claims Decisions - March 2000 to Dec 2014; 1st Circuit Court of Appeals (MA) from Jan 1995 to December 2013; 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals (NY) from Homework language Jan 1995 to December 2013; 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals (NJ) from Jan 1995 to December 2013; 4th Circuit Court of Appeals (VA) from Jan 1995 to Dec 2014; 5th Circuit Court of channel world, Appeals (LA) from Jan 1995 to Longman paper dictionary Dec 2014; 6th Circuit Court of Appeals (KY, MI, OH, TE) from Jan 1995 to Dec 2014; 7th Circuit Court of History world, Appeals (IL) from Jan 1995 to Dec 2014; 8th Circuit Court of Appeals (ND) from Jan 1995 to Dec 2014; 9th Circuit Court of Appeals (CA) from Jan 1995 to Dec 2014; 10th Circuit Court of Appeals (CO) from project Jan 1995 to Dec 2014; 11th Circuit Court of Appeals (FL) from war 2 Jan 1995 to denominations Dec 2014; and DC Circuit Court of Appeals (DC) from History channel Jan 1995 to Dec 2014. When I say that success is a process of continual improvement, this is not just a platitude. I myself constantly improve on Pictures what I do - I read anything I can find on bar examinations, I talk to anyone I can talk to about the exam, and I collect as much information and data on the exam as I possibly can. Everything I do is geared towards improving outcomes by reducing mistakes. Likewise, failing examinees must learn from their mistakes or they are bound to channel world make the same mistakes again.

Failing examinees cannot simply repeat what they did in Writing scholarship essay based on graph, the past - such examinees are ignoring the new lessons created by their old mistakes. You cannot make excuses or justify your mistakes - you must recognize your mistakes as problems and directly address those problems. I don't believe that intelligence is innate - I believe intelligence is developed by questioning things and learning from the results. Accordingly, if your desire to improve is unrelenting, you will succeed, regardless of your demographic. I regard this page as the free site. Basically, any relevant material from when I studied for the exam in 2005 is war 2, available for scholarship essay free on this page. Conversely, anything new I have done since 2005 is on the subscription site. The subscription site is explained in detail (along with how to subscribe) on this page here. The subscription site is History world war 2, essentially a comprehensive outline of Dissertation services, my methodology on how to prepare for channel and take the UBE bar exam. The main purpose of the analysis subscription site is to make your studying more efficient so that you can devote more study time to the MBE. History Channel? The subscription site contains advice, analysis and tools to prioritize your studying to enable you to study more efficiently.

The subscription site can be regarded as a lengthy organized tutoring session with a substantial amount of useful exam materials. If you are a domestic educated candidate taking the exam for the first time and studying full time using a bar review, you generally don't need supplemental bar materials/advice. However, you may want to project analysis consider subscribing if you are: (1) a foreign examinee (first-time or repeater); (2) domestic repeater who scored below 640 (or below 258 on History world the UBE) on your past attempt; (3) a first time domestic candidate studying full-time with a LGPA below 3.0; (4) a domestic candidate (first-time or repeater) who is studying part-time; or (5) a poor standardized test-taker. To determine whether you are in an at-risk category, I created the Seperac UBE Score Estimator which will estimate your UBE bar exam score based on the demographic and helpers books, grade information you enter. The subscription site centers around a simple premise examinees that do well on History channel war 2 the MBE generally pass. I like to think of the subscription site as a gap-filler. For example, while every bar review gives you a lot of books filled with law, I try to distill that information into what is the most useful and prioritize it.

Basically, if I see a need for something that isn't addressed by Writing based on graph the other bar reviews, I try to History channel address it (e.g. the Dissertation services uk structure prioritized UBE MASTER outline of the black letter law most likely to be tested on the exam with past MBE and MEE issues built into it, MP3s of MEEs and MBE rules, MEE and MPT Essay Comparisons). I regard my materials as extremely responsive to the exam. For example, for channel war 2 the upcoming exam, my goal is to scholarship have 25 pages of black letter law per MBE subject in my UBE MASTER outline since each MBE subject consists of 25 graded questions. For each page of black letter law, my goal is to have it represent one expected question on the MBE. Thus, by reading these 175 pages of black letter law, you should be very prepared for the law that will be tested on the upcoming MBE.

I used these outlines to pass the exam in 2005 with an world MBE score of 162. Homework Books Language And Composition? Since then, I have been continually improving them as I learn more and more about the wide range of nuances that are tested on the MBE/MEE. For example, a subscriber who scored a 174 on the MBE in NY and then a 177 on the MBE in NJ told me: “ as far as the MBE is concerned, your outlines have been most useful since you emphasize the fine distinctions. ” I go through a lot of war 2, effort to prioritize the categories in the outline so that this large amount of material can be studied efficiently. I have been assigning priorities and analyzing their accuracy for the past 16 exams. You can read more about the prioritizations here. Basically, I calculate how much each category is supposed to The hunger games contribute in points to the MBE (which results in the MBE priority of HIGH, MED or LOW) and then I use different criteria to determine the MEE priority (it is based on a number of factors to statistically determine if a topic is less likely to appear). The purpose of the priorities is to enable examinees to study efficiently. For example, if a subscriber finds that he or she is having difficulty retaining the wide range of information in the outline, the world war 2 examinee should focus on the HIGH priority categories (in BLUE) so they can at least be competent on what will probably represent about 50-70% of their total MBE/MEE score. This is something part-time examinees should also consider if they find there is simply too much for them to based on graph study/learn.

For example, the LOW priority categories (in ORANGE) should represent about channel world 10% of your total MBE/MEE score (and if you follow the study guidelines in Writing scholarship essay on graph, the UBE MASTER OUTLINE, it would represent about 10% of your total study). Examinees who are limited in time or memory sometimes opt to give the LOW priority topics just a cursory overview and the MEDIUM priority topics (expected to channel war 2 be about 25% of your total MBE/MEE score) a basic review so that they can focus on the HIGH priority topics (which will make up a majority of the helpers language and composition MBE/MEE). Subscribers to my site focus heavily on the MBE and take calculated risks with their MEE/MPT study based on the advice/materials on the subscription site. One reason why I believe NCBE regards the MBE as the most important part of the bar exam is because you really need to understand 400-500 legal principles to do well on channel world war 2 it since each question requires you to project analysis know multiple legal principles. For example, a single intentional torts question may require you to know about assault, battery, false imprisonment and IIED.

Thus, examinees with limited legal knowledge will not do as well on the MBE as compared to examinees with more extensive legal knowledge. Meanwhile, the MEE only consists of 20 legal principles (give or take a few). While a deeper understanding of the law is needed, it is MUCH easier for History channel world war 2 someone to get “lucky” on The hunger games essay the MEE than the MBE. Let’s assume that like the war 2 MBE, you need 65% correct on the MEE to pass this means you need to correctly identify/analyze about 13/20 of the MEE issues. If you get lucky on Writing scholarship essay based just a few of History channel war 2, them (i.e. Writing Scholarship Based On Graph? what you studied the night before luckily appears or the UBE MASTER priorities helped you), this can account for 10-15% of your total MEE score. For the History channel war 2 MBE, you really can’t get lucky on it. Even if some of the concepts you studied just before the exam appeared, that will only help you with maybe 2-4 questions. That’s just 2% of Dissertation uk structure, your MBE score. That said, I regard the war 2 materials on the subscription site as the best representation of what you can expect to see on the upcoming UBE exam.

You must keep in mind that due to how I organize and prioritize this information, you will be taking calculated risks in your studying, but I regard them as risks as worth taking (as do others). If you have taken the exam before and felt blind-sided by the MBE, MEE or MPT, you will feel much more capable on future exams through the materials and information on the subscription site. One caveat while other bar reviews have fully prepared materials that are complete and Longman dictionary, ready to History world war 2 be used when you sign up, I do not. For example, the paper dictionary prioritized UBE MASTER OUTLINE is channel world, not available until about two months before the exam (in the meantime, examinees can review the Finance analysis prior UBE MASTER OUTLINE ignoring the priorities). Likewise, the MPT, MEE, and MBE Strategy Pages are not posted until about a month before the war 2 exam because if my assessment of the exam changes, so does my advice. Help Analysis? If you need to purchase a subscription (or re-subscribe), click here. To any examinee that failed the UBE bar exam, if you send me your scores or essays, I will send you a free statistical analysis/report.

I see first-hand the difficulties that retakers face. Accordingly, whenever a failing examinee asks me for advice, I give it. I have received 20,000+ emails from examinees over the past 10 years and I have answered every single email (I strongly believe in the maxim that when one teaches, two learn). History Channel War 2? As with anything, the paper more data I have, the History channel more effective my analysis. The Hunger Games? Once I review your information, I will give you my honest opinion about what I think you should do for channel world your next attempt. For example, a failing J16 examinee who passed in F17 told me: Your analysis and advice was instrumental for my retake in February 2017 and I found out I passed last week by 7 points after failing by 11 pts in July 2016!

All in scholarship essay on graph, all, an 18 point swing while working full time and studying part time! The pass rate in History channel world, my state was 40%. Scholarship Essay On Graph? I examine NY bar exam essays/MPTs using the same methodology as the History war 2 score analysis.

I strongly urge all failing examinees to order their essays from games essay NY BOLE immediately after scores are released in order to review your essay and MPT answers. I also analyze word frequencies and report any useful data. Examinee essays are also compared to the highest scoring essay I received.

For example, one comparison reports the top 10 words the best answer used that the examinee did not. Longman? For example, one portion of the channel analysis reports the Longman dictionary top 10 words this best answer used that you did not. For MPTs, one portion of the analysis reports the Top 20 words in the MPT Drafter's Point Sheet that you did not use or the Top 15 words in channel world war 2, the Question (File and Library) that both released answers used but you did not. I significantly revised the MEE/MPT Analysis to Homework language compare examinee essays to the NBCE answers. Channel World War 2? The Issue-Spotting Analysis section shows the words/phrases in the NCBE Answer Analysis that the graders were likely looking for.

To make this analysis, I examine the NCBE Answer Analysis for Longman paper each question (the same one that is in the MEE Essay Compilation) and world, then I extract the top 50 words/phrases that I expect the services graders to look for in the examinee answers. I then report the top 25 (the ones that lead to the best examinee scores). The 'With Word' column reports how many examinees used that word along with the average points these examinees received (green is above passing while red is below passing). For example, for Essay #1 of the Feb 2017 MEE, about 21% of examinees used the History channel war 2 word/phrase 'terminate' and received an average of 24.8 points for their essays (whereas a passing MEE essay received 13.3 points). The W/O Word column shows the average essay points for the examinees who did not use that particular word or phrase. Writing Scholarship Based On Graph? Often, the channel world average score for such examinees is below passing, demonstrating the The hunger importance of issue spotting and keywords in achieving a passing MEE score. In the prior example, for the 79% of examinees who did not use the word/phrase 'terminate' in their answers, these examinees averaged 13.7 points on the essay. The You column reports which of the words/phrases you used in your answer (highlighted in History, Yellow). From examining this Issue-Spotting Analysis, you will see that issue spotting and using the correct terminology (i.e. buzzwords) is important on the MEE.

For example, below is Writing scholarship essay based, part of my analysis of Essay #3 (Family Law) on History channel war 2 the F17 MEE. Often, when examinees use the same terminology that is contained in the NCBE Answer Analysis, the average score is above passing (of course this also likely means the essay examinees correctly analyzed and concluded). Channel World War 2? For example, for Longman paper dictionary Essay #3 of the Feb 2017 MEE, about History war 2 17% of Longman dictionary, examinees used the word/phrase 'equitable distribution' and received an average of 18.9 points for their essays (whereas a passing MEE essay received 13.3 points). The W/O Word column shows the average essay points for the examinees who did not use that particular word or phrase. Often, the average score for such examinees is below passing, demonstrating the importance of History channel, issue spotting and keywords in achieving a passing MEE score. In the Homework prior example, for History channel war 2 the 83% of examinees who did not use the word/phrase 'equitable distribution' in their answers, these examinees averaged 12.4 points on the essay (below passing). I see this occur with every MEE answer. To me, this is concrete evidence that the graders rely on Writing scholarship essay based the NCBE Answer Analysis for their grading and specifically look for the keywords. Thus, reviewing the released NCBE MEE answers can likely help your overall MEE score. The MEE Analysis page examines how well an MEE score corresponds with confirmable external sources such as the above average answers, point sheet, best examinee answer, and the question itself.

For example, if an examinee's MEE is highly correlated with these external sources, does the examinee receive a high grade? Conversely, if an examinee's MEE is not highly correlated with these external sources, does the examinee receive a low grade? If another jurisdiction uses the History channel same MEE for Pictures of money their exam and releases above average exemplars, I also include these MEEs in the analysis (e.g. Arkansas is channel, AR, Minnesota is MN). Examinees who participate in the MEE/MPT Comparison (more on this below) should review cases where there is low correlation but a high score (for some insight on scholarship on graph what to do) or a high correlation but a low score (for some insight on what not to do). For example, if an exemplar has a low Essay to Point Sheet Comparison, what else did the grader find in that essay to warrant a high score? Since the graders are probably constant with each exam, examinees can use this information to fashion a response similar to the responses that graders have graded favorably in world war 2, the past.

On each table, your MEE results are highlighted in Pictures of money, yellow. The main purpose of the analysis is to enable examinees to illustrate differences between their essays and History channel world war 2, better scoring essays/MPTs to make any necessary adjustments. One portion of the Pictures denominations essay analysis reports the top words the History channel above average answers used that you did not use. This can give insight into whether you missed fundamental topics or lacked a vocabulary of Finance project analysis, important words related to the analysis of the essay. For example, I find that some examinees fail to use the word because in their answers. In an IRAC analysis, “because” is the single most important word to channel world war 2 use when analyzing the facts in the question. The failure to use words such as because, since and as will negatively affect your analysis and can only hurt your score (please note that the IRAC Analysis is generally more relevant to the MEE essays than the Dissertation uk structure MPT). Another portion of the world war 2 analysis reports the top 20 words you used that the released above average answers did not use. This can give insight into whether you misunderstand a topic or have an inappropriate vocabulary for that topic, especially if you received a low score on the essay.

The statistics can provide a wide range of insight - are your sentences per paragraph consistent with the released above average answers or is the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level too high or too low as compared to the released above average answers. For example, if you received a low score and your Essay to Dissertation uk structure Question % was low, you should re-answer the question in practice to see why you did not fit more facts from the question into your analysis. For style, examinees should modify their writing style to mimic the average style of examinees. For example, if the average examinee writes four sentences per paragraph, but you write six, you should focus on writing fewer sentences per History world paragraph. Examinees should mimic the average style of bar examinees to minimize any disruptions to the essay grader's reading or grading process. With each administration, I also create an MEE/MPT comparison to Dissertation uk structure help examinees better understand the History channel world war 2 bar exam essays/MPT. Dissertation Services Uk Structure? I only war 2, make this Comparison once because it is difficult to make due to its many dependencies. This Comparison examines a collection of of money, MEEs/MPTs from an exam and looks through them for matching words in phrases (minimum of 2 words). History Channel World? The reports contain the document text with the matching phrases underlined. The reports also show PDFs of the two essays you selected side-by-side. Put simply, examinees learn by example - reviewing a collection of graded essays helps you better understand the The hunger games MEE essays/MPTs.

I believe this MEE/MPT comparison is incredibly useful to History world examinees. For example: - You can compare any essay to any of the other examinee essays or the above average answers. - You will see exactly what NYBOLE considers to be a passing essay/MPT (for example, above a 50.95 scaled score on the Feb 2017 exam). - You can compare an essay to the best essay, the worst essay, or essays with scores with similar scores (and sometimes exactly the same score). - You can learn how much (or how little) is written for high scoring essays. - In the Text comparison, you can see exactly what words an essay used that the comparison essay also used. - In the PDF comparison, you can compare the style, layout, penmanship, neatness of Finance help, essays. - In the PDF comparison, you can study the History world war 2 headings and of money, format of high scoring MPTs. - You can compare handwritten essays to typed essays. - You can compare your MPT to the best MPTs from other states. The Feb 2017 Comparison includes graded essays that range from channel world war 2 32 to 82.

Thus, you will not only be able to see what very low scoring essays are comprised of, but also what very high scoring essays are comprised of. I feel this Comparison is invaluable for examinees to discover what works versus what doesn't work. In reviewing higher-graded answers, examinees can see all of the substantive ways in which their answers were lacking. Services Uk Structure? For example, how many sentences do the higher-graded answers write to develop and analyze the black letter law for each issue. How does it compare to your essay? Reviewing essays that are just passing will give examinees insight into the content a passing essay consists of. History War 2? For example, can an essay that only Pictures, issue spots the issues receive a passing score. History Channel World War 2? For the MPTs, you can see how passing examinees organize and write their answers. If your prior essay/MPT scores were low, you may find a style or format in these passing essays that you can incorporate into future essays . For example, an The hunger examinee that passed after using the MEE/MPT comparison told me: I think this helped me immensely, because although I had not practiced writing any essays, I still really got a feel for the tone, length, content and structure of passing answers which created a 'voice' in my head when writing essays. To cite another example, an examinee that failed told me: I did much better on world war 2 my essays this time due in large part to your comparison tool. I found that to be extremely helpful . For the exam, this examinee's essay average was ranked 9/196 (this means the examinee had a 5-Essay average better than 95.4% of the examinees that sent me their score information).

For the prior exam (before utilizing the Comparison), the examinee’s essay average was ranked 131/315 (which was better than 58.4% of the examinees that sent me their scores). Following are small samples of the February and July 2010 comparisons: For example, in the above July 2010 sample, there are just 10 comparisons based on 3 examinee essays and dictionary, the two released above average answers. Meanwhile, in the full July 2010 essay comparison, for History each essay/MPT, there are 1,596 comparisons based on 55 examinee essays and the two released above average answers. As you may have noticed in the sample, all identifying information is redacted and Dissertation, each examinee is assigned a random 3-digit ID in order to maintain complete anonymity.

The reason essays are released is enable examinees to History war 2 identify deficiencies in scholarship essay, their essays. History World? In a 1995 bill to based bill to amend the Judiciary Law, the bill stated that it is in New York State's best interest to insure that all bar applicants are given an equal opportunity to pass the NYS Bar Examination. Channel? Disclosure of past testing materials and applicant examinations allow prospective attorneys to become aware of testing subject matter and methodology so that otherwise qualified attorneys are not defeated in their attempts to games essay pass the bar examination. A copy of the bill is here: In a March 2014 article entitled It Should Be About Feedback and Revision by J. Channel War 2? Elizabeth Clark, an English professor at The hunger essay, LaGuardia Community College who wrote that [h]igh-stakes essay writing is world, about learning to Homework books and composition game the system.

Good test takers are just that: Students who learned the rules of the game, often through expensive test-prep courses that disadvantage poor and History world war 2, at-risk students. Of Money Denominations? Those with greater access to coaches and History channel world war 2, materials and practice do better on Writing scholarship based the exam, but that does not mean they are better writers. This MEE/MPT comparison is an excellent way for examinees to learn the rules of the game . Put simply, there is no other resource available that enables bar examinees to compare and History channel world, contrast a wide range of Writing essay based on graph, graded MEEs/MPTs. Channel War 2? Please use it to your advantage, especially if you do not have the time to practice many essays. The MEE/MPT comparison will contain an books language enhancement where your MPTs will also be compared to the exemplar MPTs of other jurisdictions. For example, your MPT may be compared to the best MPTs from other states such as Arkansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio, and Texas. Channel World War 2? Put simply, comparing your MPT side-by-side to a large number of high scoring MPTS is the best way to quickly and efficiently identify the deficiencies in your MPT on your own. If you judge your performance from channel world war 2 exam to exam based solely on Homework helpers language and composition your scaled scores, you are making a mistake. The analysis is useful in pinpointing your worst subjects and assessing your future exam performance based on your prior scores. Channel World War 2? NOTE: If you took the exam in a state (e.g. California) that only provides your total score and MBE subscores (meaning no detailed essay/MPT scores), I can provide you with a breakdoen of these percentiles if you complete my MBE Subscore form. Starting in 2017, the scoresheets once again contain percentiles for the MBE sub-scores (this information used to be included on The hunger games essay score reports but was removed just prior to NCBE's introduction of Civil Procedure to the MBE). Channel War 2? These percentiles tell you how many examinees you did better than nationally for The hunger essay each MBE subject and overall. For example, for channel war 2 the Feb 2017 exam, if your %tile for Civil Procedure is 19.7, it means that you scored better than only games, 19.7% of examinees nationwide on History channel world war 2 the 25 graded Civil Procedure MBE questions (out of Finance project analysis, about 23,000 February 2017 examinees). What these percentiles don't tell you are your raw scores (e.g. that you answered 13/25 of the Civil Procedure MBE questions correctly, meaning 52% correct for Civil Procedure). With this information, you can correlate your exam MBE scores to your practice MBE scores (e.g. if you were getting 70% correct on History channel Civil Procedure questions in practice but 52% correct on the exam, you should find a better source of Civil Procedure MBE practice questions). All information submitted is always treated confidentially.

For the pre-UBE New York bar exam (pass rate of 665), I have seen examinees pass on their next attempt after failing with scores as low as 530. I have also seen examinees fail the Finance project exam with scores as high as 664 who never subsequently pass the History war 2 exam. As such, it is never possible to definitively conclude what a repeater's outcome will be. Pictures Denominations? However, based on NYBOLE statistics, the History likelihood of passing generally decreases with each attempt. For example, I took all the information in NYBOLE released studies from 2005-2007 discussed above and matched it up to determine MBE scores and final scores based on number of attempts (data not included was not available in the NYBOLE reports): As you can see, according to of money denominations NYBOLE's statistics, an examinee’s final score generally decreases with each attempt. History Channel World? However, I find that examinees who can improve on the MBE are more likely to avoid this expected outcome. If you are taking the Dissertation uk structure upcoming exam.

With New York switching to the UBE exam, this site has been modified accordingly. The site announcements appear on the left pane of History channel world, this page. The announcements are in paper dictionary, reverse chronological order (so you will see the war 2 most recent announcements first). Any information pertaining to the pre-UBE essays (such as my 2005 MASTER outline) has been removed since the MEE has replaced this portion of the exam. The MBE, MEE and MPT advice on project help this page is basic, but still useful. I created the Seperac UBE Score Estimator which will estimate your UBE bar exam score based on the demographic and grade information you enter.

With each exam, I see a lot of channel war 2, examinees unnecessarily panic as the exam nears. To give examinees a good understanding of their odds of passing the UBE exam, I took every available statistic from a credible source (e.g. NCBE and NYBOLE) and created a calculator based on that data. Games Essay? While there will always be outliers, the estimations should accurately reflect the majority of examinees sitting for the exam. These statistics will either make you feel more confident or remind you that more work needs to be put into the exam. However, even if you are in an at-risk category, your MBE practice scores (assuming the MBE practice questions are of sufficient difficulty and representative of the topics tested) will give you the most insight as to whether or not you will pass the UBE. If you find this calculator helpful, please enter your email address and History world, then press the Pictures of money denominations Submit button to send me your information. History Channel World War 2? Since this is the first iteration of the calculator, I won’t know how accurate it is until I compile results from scholarship essay based on graph examinees. Thus, by History world submitting your information, your input will help improve the Pictures of money denominations accuracy of the calculator for future examinees. Thanks in advance and world war 2, good luck on the exam.

I expect bar exam pass rates to continue to decline until at least 2019 (meaning your odds of passing will diminish with each exam you take). Project Help Analysis? In looking at the pass rate data from 1996-2015 (2016 data will not be released until 2017), the 2015 overall national pass rate was 59%, the lowest it has ever been based on this 20 year period. History Channel? I expect this trend to uk structure continue until at History channel world, least 2019 because the corresponding LSAT Percentiles have also dropped (these Percentiles serve as a good predictor of project help analysis, future bar exam performance). I expect bar exam pass rates to continue to channel world decline until at least 2019 (meaning your odds of Writing based, passing will diminish with each exam you take). Bar exam pass rates are tied to the MBE (e.g. if the MBE average for an administration goes up, the pass rates almost always go up).

MBE scores are correlated with LSAT scores. Thus, I use the 25th Percentile LSAT and 75th Percentile LSAT as a barometer for pass rates. If the world war 2 Average LSAT for helpers books language a class of History world, matriculants drops as compared to the prior class, I similarly expect their bar exam pass rates to Longman paper dictionary drop as compared to the prior class (the raw data can be viewed here). The 2013 Full-Time Law School Matriculants (who take the bar exam in 2016) had a 25th LSAT Percentile of 152.8 and History world, a 75th LSAT Percentile of 158.9. Services? The 2014 Full-Time Law School Matriculants (who take the bar exam in 2017) had a 25th LSAT Percentile of 152.5 and a 75th LSAT Percentile of 158.7.

Thus, because the 2014 Full-Time Law School Matriculants appear to be less knowledgeable than the 2013 Full-Time Law School Matriculants, it is History world war 2, reasonable to presume that the 2017 bar pass rates will be lower than the services 2016 bar pass rates. The 2015 Full-Time Law School Matriculants (who take the bar exam in 2018) had a 25th LSAT Percentile of 152.4 and History channel, a 75th LSAT Percentile of 158.4 (even lower). The 2016 Full-Time Law School Matriculants (who take the services uk structure bar exam in 2019) had a 25th LSAT Percentile of History channel world, 151.2 and essay based, a 75th LSAT Percentile of 157.2 (even lower still). Thus, I expect bar pass rates to History channel war 2 continue to decline until at least 2019. Following are the Dissertation services uk structure national bar exam pass rates since 1996 (compiled from released NCBE data): Likewise, I expect the pass rates for lower-ability examinees (such as foreign examinees) to decrease with the UBE exam. While it appears the History channel UBE exam will be easier to study for due to fewer subjects, I believe the Writing on graph UBE exam will be more difficult for lower-ability examinees to pass. The NY UBE exam will consist of six 30-minute essays based on the MBE subjects plus Business Relationships, Family Law, Trusts and Estates and UCC Article 9 (30% of History, score), two 90-minute MPTs (20% of score), and 200 1.8 minute MBE Questions (50% of Finance project analysis, score). Accordingly, examinees would be tested for History world war 2 6 hours per uk structure day for History world war 2 two days.

Examinees would then have to separately take a 50 question New York multiple choice exam that will be offered 4 times a year. I expect the NY pass rates to Writing essay stay roughly the same because the cut score is staying the same (266). However, the UBE exam is expected to be more reliable than the NY bar exam, primarily due to the MBE being 50% of the total score rather than the current 40%. This means that examinees who generally demonstrate lower-ability on the MBE will find it harder to pass the UBE. Therefore, while the UBE exam appears to be easier to study for due to fewer subjects, I believe the UBE exam will be harder to pass for examinees who generally demonstrate lower-ability on History channel world the MBE (particularly foreign examinees). For example, I received scores from 300+ failing J15 examinees who had an Homework and composition average MBE score of 122 (versus the world war 2 mean July scaled MBE of about 142). Their average final score was 614.6. If I convert their scores to The hunger essay the UBE by making their 5-essays worth 30% (instead of 40%), their MPT score worth 20% (instead of channel, 10%) and Writing essay based, their MBE score worth 50% (instead of 40%), then these 300+ examinees would have had an average final score of 610.6 on the UBE. Channel War 2? This is helpers and composition, a loss of 4 points by changing to the UBE format of History world war 2, scoring. Of Money? Please keep in mind that this is not a perfect assessment, since MPT scores will be slightly more reliable through the answering of 2 MPTs (instead of basing the channel score on 1 MPT and doubling it).

To cite another example, in essay on graph, looking at 2005-2006 NYBOLE data (this is the last time NYBOLE released comprehensive statistics on pass rates), in July 2005, Female Domestic-Educated Repeaters averaged 123.1 on the MBE while Female Foreign-Educated Repeaters averaged 118.9 on the MBE. In Feb 2006, Female Domestic-Educated Repeaters averaged 128.9 on the MBE while Female Foreign-Educated Repeaters averaged 123.2 on History the MBE. Typically, the of money higher the MBE mean, the higher the pass rate. History World? With the MBE carrying more weight on games the UBE, the MBE’s negative effect on Foreign-Educated pass rates will be amplified. More so, the MPT will now be 20% of the score rather than 10%. The MPT is essentially a reading comprehension test where the examinees who can read and channel, write fastest do the best. With the MPT carrying more weight on the UBE, the MPT’s negative effect on Foreign-Educated pass rates will likewise be amplified. To look at it another way, I received detailed score information from 99 examinees who sat for the Feb 2015 New York bar exam regarding their status as domestic or foreign educated. Of these 99 examinees, 39 examinees were domestic educated examinees (39.39% of the 99 examinees). These domestic educated examinees averaged 48.57 on the Essays, 49.54 on the MPT, 127.6 on paper the MBE, and 617.6 on the NYMC.

They had an History average final score of 634.2. Of these 99 examinees, 60 examinees were foreign educated examinees (60.61% of the 99 examinees). These foreign educated examinees averaged 45.95 on the Essays, 43.49 on essay on graph the MPT, 119.6 on the MBE, and 629.8 on the NYMC. They had an world war 2 average final score of 601.4. In looking at just the Essays (40%), MPT (10%) and language and composition, MBE (40%), the domestic educated examinees scored 36.6 points more than the History channel war 2 foreign educated examinees. The domestic educated examinees scored 11.8 points better on the Essays, 6.8 points better on the MPT and 16 points better on Longman the MBE. History Channel World? This small sample supports the Pictures of money denominations premise that domestic educated examinees do much better than foreign educated examinees on the MBE and MPT as opposed to the essays. In regards to the MPT, even though it is 10% of the grade, there is a 6.8 point difference. If I adjust these percentages to reflect the UBE percentages, then for the Essays (30%), MPT (20%) and MBE (50%), the domestic educated examinees will score 42.5 points more than the foreign educated examinees.

This is war 2, a UBE exam bonus of 5.9 points in favor of games, domestic educated examinees. If you are from a New York law school, I ranked the 15 New York law schools based on their 5-year July pass rates (July 2012-July 2016) based on First-time takers (taken from the History world war 2 New York Law Journal). This will give you a good idea of paper dictionary, whether you are an at-risk candidate. For example, NYU has the highest overall First-time taker pass rate at 96% and Touro has the lowest overall First-time taker pass rate at 66.0%. Alternatively, If you recently took the History world war 2 exam or are a repeat-taker, please read the following: If you recently took the UBE bar exam and are unsure as to whether you passed, I have a post-exam questionnaire that you can fill out. Essay? If you think there is a reasonable probability that you may not have passed the exam, filling out this form now (while the information is still fresh in your mind) can help you later. For example, using this information, I track the key details of your attempt, so if you later find that you failed the History exam, I will try to match your responses/statistics to whoever previously submitted the uk structure most comparable details (and later passed) to give you their advice on what worked for them.

This input from examinees also gives me a better understanding of the effectiveness of my advice along with information on the exam itself. If you start to fill it out and decide it is too daunting, simply send me what you complete I prefer partial information to no information. History? The National Pass Rates calculator will report the pass rates in U.S. states and territories based on channel the 2009 Bar Admission Statistics published by the National Conference of Bar Examiners. The data can be sorted based on the overall 2009 Pass Rate (July and February combined) or separately by exam. Once UBE score sheets are released, I plan to help analysis develop matrix calculators to create full matrix scoring scenarios. In your study plans, make the MBE your primary focus. I discuss this in more depth on the subscription site, but because the MBE is History channel, more reliable than the Homework helpers essays, you want to be better at channel war 2, the MBE than the essays. Project Analysis? If someone with a high MBE score fails the NY bar exam, I can almost assure them that they will eventually pass I can’t say the same to someone with high essay scores.

This opinion is History, shared by NCBE, who recently stated that MBE scores are highly related to total bar exam scores. see The Bar Examiner, December 2011. First and foremost, there is no better way of knowing the exam than the exam itself. According to NCBE, those who plan to retake the examination as repeaters will gain, on Writing scholarship essay based average, about 8 points on the subsequent MBE attempt, but some gain more points and some actually score lower than before; and world war 2, NCBE recommends that those who are planning to retake the examination purchase the MBE OPE exams and Finance project analysis, take them repeatedly up until the History war 2 exam date to obtain the Dissertation services rationales for why the options they select are either correct or incorrect. According to NCBE, “ [t]ests are a powerful motivator, and channel world war 2, testing time is not a waste of instructional time if the tests are focused on Longman paper important concepts. Likewise, studying for a test is channel war 2, a good use of learning time if the tests are testing important concepts. Services Uk Structure? Testing early and often is important to provide guidance to war 2 students about whether they are on track or whether they need to study more in order to succeed in the course. “ I believe that doing MBE practice questions is the most effective way to learn the MBE material. These questions can be downloaded for free here: http://www.ncbex.org/study-aids/ Please note that a law professor has concluded that one of the ten answers is likely wrong. War 2? This wrong answer highlights a problem with the MBE it is a test written by academics that sometimes does not reflect the actual practice of law. As stated in the explanation as to why Question #9 of the sample Civil Procedure MBE questions is wrong: “ A court would go [with] Answer 2. But I think an Homework helpers language and composition academic could construct an History channel argument for Answer 1. ” The most important questions to know for the MBE are the released NCBE questions which are written in the current MBE format. These comprise 400 questions contained in the NCBE OPE 1-4 exams plus the project 10 MBE Civil Procedure Sample Test Questions, and world, the 21 MBE Sample Test Questions. According to a recent short article entitled Pedagogical Advice On Studying For The MBE by services uk structure Susan M. Case, Ph.D. of NCBE, learning the material presented in the four OPEs should put you in a very good position to do well on the MBE. According to war 2 the article, NCBE recommends the following approach to those who are preparing to Homework take the MBE: Accordingly, you must know these OPE exams very well. History? Put simply, there is no better way of understanding the exam than by looking at released questions by the exam maker. The NCBE online practice exams will also familiarize you with the NCBE changes.

As you answer MBE practice questions, track your MBE progress in a spreadsheet (scores and times) to evaluate your week-to-week progress. You want to be getting around 63-70% right on unfamiliar questions around 7-10 days before the exam to hopefully score in the 140s+ (scaled) on the MBE. As the article states, examinees should study the questions and Writing essay based on graph, the explanations for channel war 2 why each correct answer is Longman, correct and why the History war 2 incorrect answers are incorrect and study the material thoroughly until you believe you would get 100% correct if you took this test under exam conditions. If you don't re-test yourself once you have learned the right answer (and reminded yourself through making a rule/flashcard and games, studying it), you will often repeat your mistakes. For example, in History, a 1998 study, NCBE found that examinees generally do not learn from their MBE mistakes - repeat examinees generally did not improve on questions they previously answered on an earlier MBE exam. To counter this problem, examinees can improve their understanding of unfamiliar law by making rules (which requires you to project help think about the law), studying the rules, adding to them after additional MBE practice, organizing them, and then studying them again.

This means that you should not mark up your MBE books, but write your answers on blank scoresheets or in a spreadsheet (such as the MBE Study Spreadsheet on world the Subscription Site). Uk Structure? Then, every so often, answer a sample of 10 previously answered questions. History World War 2? How you do when re-answering these questions will give you a good bit of insight as to essay based on graph whether you have learned the law for History channel war 2 these questions. Finance Project Help? If you tracked your old answer choice, you can also see if you are choosing the same incorrect answer or a different answer. If you cannot answer 8/10 correctly, you need to spend more time making/studying your rules because there is a failing somewhere. Put simply, if you can't get at History, least 80% correct on familiar questions you answered and reviewed a few weeks earlier, it will be even harder for you testing on the unfamiliar questions you will encounter on the MBE. Personally, I did about 50 MBE practice questions per day and I always timed myself. Services Uk Structure? I would set the timer for an 18 minute countdown and world, then do 10 MBE questions in a particular category (i.e. Torts).

After I did 10 questions, I checked the project analysis answers, kept track of how many I missed and updated my rule outline with any rules from questions I got wrong (or in channel, a few cases, got right for the wrong reason). I kept track of this and scholarship, how much time I had left after each series of 10 questions in channel war 2, an Excel Spreadsheet. In the spreadsheet, I calculated the games essay amount of time I used per question. If you develop an average time, you can multiply this by 33 to figure out how long this will take you to do a category. History World War 2? For me, Property questions took the longest (average of helpers, 1.4 minutes per question), then Contracts, then Torts, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, and Evidence. World War 2? Here is the spreadsheet I created and used: Bar Study Sheet.xls (A PDF of my study sheet is here) You can look at the Bar Study Sheet to see exactly what I did each day. In my opinion, doing the topics in blocks gives you a more realistic estimate of how you are doing on that topic. In the first month of Pictures of money denominations, studying, if you are doing 10 questions from world war 2 each topic a day, how do you really know if you are doing well in a specific topic? You can also gauge your progress by comparing your scores to mine at the same juncture.

For example, take the 1998 July MBE 22 days before the exam like I did. Then compare your score and Dissertation uk structure, time to mine to roughly approximate how you may do on the MBE portion of the bar exam. Following are my MBE outlines from July 2005 that are based on the BARBRI review course. Please remember that these outlines have not been updated since 2005 so you must update them. As you do MBE questions, remember to keep track of your percentages and to skim your MBE subject matter outlines (or mine if you update them). The Bar Study Spreadsheet contains worksheet pages (50 50, 200, or 100 100) that you can print out as answer sheets for the Kaplan/PMBR/MBE questions and exams that you do. Here are PDF versions of the blank answer sheets along with a PDF of my marked up score sheet for History the July 1998 MBE to illustrate how I marked it up: On the score sheet, I also made a note of how many questions I got wrong because I misread the The hunger games question (I put an History MR next to the right answer).

This was simply a way for me to see if I was reading the questions too fast. Occasionally, I also incorporated a tip from BARBRI where you put a plus sign next to Finance project analysis any answer that you are sure is History channel, correct. That way if you later find you are wrong on that answer, you need to Homework books really study that area to figure out why you were wrong. For the MBE, the average passing raw score in NY is 120/190 (63% correct). The average scaled MBE score is approximately 142 on July exams (133/190 raw=70% correct) and 136.5 (133/190 raw=70% correct) on February exams (122/190 raw=64% correct). In practice, you want to be at 60% correct about one month before the exam, and at 65%-70% correct by exam day. To achieve this goal, examinees studying full-time should answer 30-50 MBE practice questions every day. Examinees should read every answer to each question (regardless whether you answered the question correctly or incorrectly) AND TAKE NOTES OF ANYTHING YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND.

Personally, I created a separate MBE outline of MBE rules and organized this by topic (i.e. Con Law, Contracts, etc.). History Channel War 2? This flashcard document should contain 1-2 sentence rules of law for all the multiple choice questions that you answered wrong and for any question that you answered correctly but for the wrong reasons. These are your weaknesses on the MBE. Read this outline every day before you do your daily MBE questions. Pictures Of Money? My MBE Rules Outline flashcard document ended up containing over 800 1-sentence rules of law. Here is my flashcard document (please also keep in mind that these rules have not been reviewed or updated since 2005): While there are undoubtedly many reasons why re-takers do worse on channel world war 2 the exam, I believe the main reason is because failing examinees are unable to do well on the MBE.

I find that an examinee generally fails the exam (and becomes a re-taker) because they do poorly on the MBE. Many re-takers are later unable to devote as much time or energy to the exam as their first attempt and their MBE score languishes. Even when re-takers focus on the MBE, if they don’t learn from their MBE mistakes, they will have a hard time improving enough on the MBE to pass. The most important thing you can do for the MBE is to Pictures make some type of a “Rules outline” for each practice MBE question you get wrong (or right for the wrong reasons). If you don’t keep track of the History channel war 2 law that you learn during the MBE question process, you will forget a good bit of Pictures, it, and it will also be harder to identify where you are having problems. If you do a good rules outline that is channel world war 2, organized and prioritized and you study it often, everything will come together in the end - you will have a concise catalog of all your MBE mistakes so that you can study them to avoid repeating them. For example, a subscriber that recently passed with an MBE score of Dissertation uk structure, 158.5 said that what helped him most for channel world war 2 the MBE was “ MAKING A RULE OUTLINE. That is the best way to of money learn the material. But not only making the outline, reviewing it every so often. I used this before the exam, on the day of the History world exam, and at lunch. Homework? Could not do anything more beneficial to learn the MBE. ”

The MBE Subject Matter Outline can be downloaded here. If you are making an MBE rules outline, you should categorize the History channel rules based on the topics in the MBE outlines in order to prioritize the helpers books language and composition rules. For example, according to the MBE Subject Matter Outlines for History channel world Constitutional Law, approximately half of the Constitutional Law questions for each MBE will be based on category IV (Individual rights), and approximately half will be based on Dissertation services uk structure the remaining categories, I, II, and channel world, III (the nature of judicial review; separation of powers; and the relations of nation and states in services, a federal system). If you categorize your rules outline for world each MBE topic, you can focus on higher priority rules (i.e. Con Law Category IV) when you are studying or if you are running short on time. Categorizing your rules ends up being a useful exercise in learning the interplay between legal topics. Although some people say you should do questions from each subject at least once a week (i.e.

Constitutional Law questions on Monday, Criminal Law questions on Tuesday, Contracts on Wednesday, etc.), I did my MBE Q's in blocks until about one month before the exam. For example, after Constitutional Law finished in BARBRI, I did Constitutional Law multiple choice questions from The hunger games essay BarBri and Kaplan/PMBR. Then I did the History same with the next topic. Once all six topics were finished in BARBRI, I then started doing exams to test on all the subjects. I ended up answering over 4,000 multiple choice questions (please note that over 1,000 of these questions did not have answer explanations, so very little time was spent reviewing these answers). For the July 2005 MBE, I finished the AM session 45 minutes early and the PM session 35 minutes early. Quite honestly, if you do a lot of MBE questions, they start to look familiar after a while.

However, do not use me as a gauge - most examinees finish the helpers books and composition MBE with only a few minutes to spare. Out of History channel world war 2, curiosity, I checked the answer keys of project help analysis, each released MBE and tallied the correct answers for each exam. I found that the answers for the three released MBE exams (Feb 1991, July 1991, and July 1998) are evenly distributed. History Channel War 2? Each MBE exam had 50 choice (A) right answers, 50 choice (B) right answers, 50 choice (C) right answers, and 50 choice (D) right answers. This is more of an interesting observation rather than a tip or advice. Finance Project Help? Assuming that the MBE still continues this pattern, you may be able to increase your odds by doing the following (called the History war 2 Underdog Strategy): b. Count the frequency of each position among your (hopefully correct) answers. c. Select the position with the lowest frequency (the underdog position). If two or more positions are tied for underdogs, select any one of them. d. Give the services underdog position(s) as the answer to channel world all as yet unanswered questions. Much like the recently released MBE questions (OPE 1-4) reflect the current MBE, the recently released MEE questions reflect the current MEE. Older MEE questions (with answers) from of money 2007-2011 (9 exams) can be downloaded from NCBE here.

More recent MEE questions can be purchased from NCBE here. I created an History world MEE Study module for examinees who are looking to scholarship based efficiently supplement their MEE study. History Channel War 2? This MEE Study Module is worth getting if: (1) you don’t have access to the released MEE questions/answers and plan to buy them; or (2) you are an auditory learner; or (3) you need to improve your MEE issue spotting. If you plan to buy the released MEE questions, it is more cost-effective (and extremely more efficient) to obtain these questions/answers/synopses through this MEE Study module since you will save $50 ($99 for the MEE Study Module versus $150 to purchase the 2012-2016 MEEs from Writing scholarship essay based NCBE) and you will also have access to a significant amount of extra MEE related content: Based on the past tested MEE topics, I create a UBE MASTER outline for each exam. It contains on every topic and issue tested on History channel the MEE since 1995 (44 exams comprising 300+ essay questions and 1,200+ issues).

This outline is prioritized utilizing the same methodology I used for Writing scholarship essay based the pre-UBE essays. This outline has the added advantage of prioritizing utilizing the grading weights for each topic contained in the MEE answer analysis. Samples of the UBE MASTER OUTLINE, the world MEE MASTER TOPIC SUMMARIES OUTLINE , and Dissertation uk structure, the MEE MASTER-RELEASED ANSWER COMPILATION can be viewed by clicking on war 2 the links. In addition, there is other MEE information on the subscription site, including 30 hours of MEE Questions and Answers in MP3 format covering the past 18 MEE exams. For example, following is a free sample set of MP3s from the The hunger games February 2008 MEE: Reviewing past MEEs will help you on History channel the MEE exam because the topics repeat (and you will also improve your issue-spotting ability by learning how the issues are tested). For example, the FEBRUARY 2008 MEE answers alone would have helped you with about 15% of the JULY 2016 MEE questions, particularly with the topics of CrimLaw: Cat V: Const Protections of Ds (B. Confessions/Self-incrimination privilege), Torts: Cat II: Negligence (D. Problems relating to analysis causation)_2_Harms_traceable_to_multiple_causes, Torts: Cat III: Strict/Prod Liability (C. Claims against manufacturers) and SecTrans: Cat III: Validity of History world war 2, Sec Agmts (B. Enforceability).

Older MPT questions (with point sheets) from 2006-2010 (8 exams) can be downloaded from NCBE here. MPT scores are not very reliable. Personally, I have received scores from numerous failing examinees who scored a high MPT score on one exam and then a low MPT score on a subsequent exam. The biggest problem with the Longman paper dictionary MPT is its all or nothing nature - some examinees understand and do well on certain MPT questions/topics/tasks while other examinees find the same MPT questions/topics/tasks daunting. History Channel War 2? That is why NCBE said that there needs to be 22 different MPT questions (meaning a 33 hour MPT test) for the MPT to be as reliable as the MBE. see The Bar Examiner: Volume 77, Number 3, August 2008 . Examinees who fail the exam should order their essays/MPT and participate in the Essay/MPT comparison to better understand what the graders regard as a high scoring essay/MPT.

Writing a good MPT answer requires a different skill set than essay writing. According to Writing based on graph NCBE, when the local essays scores are compared to the other components of the exam (without adjusting for History reliability), the lowest correlation is dictionary, between the channel world essays and the MPT (.43 for Essays vs. MPT; 44 for Essays vs. MEE; and .55 for Essays vs. MBE).

See The Bar Examiner: Volume 77, Number 3, August 2008 . Personally, I did not do any practice MPTs. I spent a cumulative total of about six hours preparing for helpers and composition the MPT by History war 2 doing the following: • I looked at one answer (a memorandum) and Finance, worked in reverse to History channel world see where the answer portions came from (i.e. Were statutes primarily cited; were they cited first and then case law; what parts of the cases did the exam taker incorporate into his answer; how much case analysis did the exam taker incorporate into his answer; how much relevance did the exam taker assign to the other information in Longman dictionary, the library). This was the most useful thing I did. World War 2? This will give you a good idea of what parts of the cases and statutes you should strip out and helpers language, put into History world war 2, your answer when you do the MPT yourself. Once you know what a good answer consists of, you are better prepared to write a good answer yourself. • If you are not a fast reader/thinker/writer, you should do practice MPTs to see if you have time/writing problems. From July 2001 to present, NYBOLE has released has two sample MPT answers written by The hunger actual test-takers that were regarded as representative of better than average submissions. All these exams are contained in the following Exams Zip file (The MPT answers are after the Essay answers). World? if you wish to uk structure download MPT answers from war 2 a specific exam, you can choose the file from the below table: Individual Past NY Exam Essay Questions with Sample Candidate Answers. The biggest mistake you can make on essay the MPT is to not follow instructions.

For example, on the July 2011 exam, I found that a number of examinees received very low scores for failing to History channel world war 2 follow the directive of the memorandum, failing to write persuasively when required, or failing to understand of the structure of the of money denominations MPT judicial system. World? I believe that Diane Bosse, the chair of the Pictures denominations New York State Board of Law Examiners, wrote the December 2011 article entitled The MPT: Assessment Opportunities beyond the Traditional Essay partly in response to the glaring mistakes made by examinees on the July 2011 MPT. Accordingly, examinees must be cognizant of this advice when taking the MPT. In addition, there is a lot of History world war 2, helpful advice and material for the MPT on the Subscription Site. NY Bar Exam Pass Rates. Pass rates have been dropping significantly over the past two years. For example, the overall Feb 2016 pass rate in New York was 41%. The Hunger? In contrast, the 20 year historical overall February pass rate in NY has been about 47.1%.

Based on my calculations, an extra 250+ examinees failed (out of channel, 4,193 taking) as a result of this 6.1% pass rate difference. Services Uk Structure? Likewise, the channel world war 2 July 2015 pass rate in New York was abnormally low. The 20 year historical overall July pass rate in NY has been about 69.5%. The overall July 2015 pass rate in NY was 61%. Based on my calculations, an extra 900+ examinees failed (out of 10,671 taking) as a result of this 8.5% pass rate difference. Based on my current analysis, only 3 states had a July 2015 pass rate above their 20 year average (from 1995-2014). Washington had the services uk structure best increase, passing 3.64% more examinees than their 20 year July average. Mississippi had the worst decrease, failing 32.32% more examinees than their 20 year July average. Channel World War 2? Based on the number of project analysis, July 2014 takers, I estimate that an extra 1,971 examinees failed the July 2015 bar exam as compared to their state's 1995-2014 average. In regards to New York, the 20 year historical overall July pass rate in NY has been about 69.5%. The overall July 2015 pass rate in NY was 61%.

Based on channel war 2 my calculations, an extra 900+ NY examinees failed based on this 8.5% pass rate difference. Statistically, it becomes harder and The hunger, harder to pass the NY bar exam with each attempt. In October 2006, NY BOLE released a paper entitled Impact of the Increase in world war 2, the Passing Score on games essay the New York Bar Examination July 2005 Bar Administration (see http://www.nybarexam.org/press/ncberep.pdf, pages 83, 90-91). This study was done when the pass rate in NY was 660 (it is raised to 665 in 2005). According to the study, with a passing score of 665, the channel world war 2 projected pass rate for Domestic-Educated First-Time Takers was 83%; the Longman paper dictionary projected pass rate for Domestic-Educated Second-Time Takers was 30%; and the projected pass rate for Domestic-Educated Third-Time Takers was 23.2%. Meanwhile, the projected pass rate for Foreign-Educated First-Time Takers was 43.9% while the projected pass rate for Foreign-Educated Repeaters was 13.5% (id. at pages 95, 98). As you can see, pass rates plummet for re-takers, even for History the ones most likely to pass, namely Domestic-Educated takers. Following are pass rates for Homework helpers language the New York Bar Exam from 2012-2015. Please note these statistics are averages based on percentages reported by NY BOLE. The overall pass rate between 1992-2012 is world, 64.8%.

Since 1992, the average annual increase in candidates has been approximately 2.5% and the average annual increase in passing candidates has been approximately 2%. In contrast, foreign-educated examinees taking the exam for the first time had an overall pass rate of Pictures denominations, 42%. In regards to retakers, domestic-educated retakers had an overall pass rate of 40% while foreign-educated retakers had an overall pass rate of 23%. In examining the average pass rates in New York over History channel world war 2, the past 20 years of reported information, the services uk structure February Overall Pass Rate is History channel, 47.1% while the July Overall Pass Rate is 69.8%.

The February First Time Takers Pass Rate is Finance project help, 59.9% while the July First Time Takers Pass Rate is 73.6%. The February Repeaters Pass Rate is 33.6% while the July Repeaters Pass Rate is 28.3%. With each reduction of 1% in the pass rate, an estimated 40 extra examinees will fail the world war 2 exam in February (whereas in uk structure, July, with each reduction of 1% in the pass rate, an estimated 110 extra examinees will fail the exam in July). If you are a local domestic candidate, I ranked the 15 New York law schools based on their 5-year July pass rates (July 2010-July 2014) based on First-time takers. NYU has the highest overall First-time taker pass rate at 95.6% and Touro has the lowest overall First-time taker pass rate at 74.0%. Basically, domestic white males under the age of 27 are the ones who score the best on the exam. The further away you are from this demographic, the worse you tend to do on the exam.

Interestingly, women to History do somewhat better than men on the essay component (about 2 points on the MBE scale) and for men to do somewhat better than women on the MBE (about 5 points on the MBE scale) - this was observed consistently across racial/ethnic groups, and for uk structure first-time takers and repeat takers. To counter this, NCBE has added more women question writers for channel world the MBE. I estimate that Feb 2017 results will be released on Wednesday 4/26/17 (NYBOLE has averaged 60 days for the past few February pre-UBE exams and then NYBOLE was 3 days later than average with the J16 UBE exam, so I am predicting 63 days from the F17 exam date) Official New York bar exam results are posted on Dissertation uk structure NYBOLE's website here. My chronicle of world war 2, exam results release dates is below. FYI, since 1995, a total of 1,365,473 examinees took a bar exam in the U.S. and Homework helpers language, 927,017 passed, resulting in an overall nationwide pass rate of 67.9% (this means that by February 2017, there will have been 1,000,000+ new attorneys in the U.S. over History channel, a span of books language and composition, 22 years). From 2005 to present, the average number of days before the exam results release is 66 days for a February exam and 100 days for a July exam.
